If you were to trade in a SD43 for another brand

I recently acquired a SD43 which is probably the greatest dive watch I had the pleasure of owning. However, I have also acquired a BLNR and have my old Kermit and my wife added an Explorer II to our collection making my collection very Rolex heavy. In the spirit of more diversity I was thinking of trading it and getting a different brand. Provided that the math makes sense which one would you go for if you were me?

1. Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Chrono Gmt
2. RO day date moonphase
3. VC Overseas
4. Wait and see what else you might find

Overseas Chrono would be my choice.

I'm really happy I purchaed an Overseas to add to my Rolex collection, only problem is everything else has been sitting since (2 mos. now). If your thinking of another diver you may want to give a look at the Planet Ocean.

My issue is moving something with firm value to something that will decline materially. Just be sure whatever you love into is a keeper. Which is difficult of course as here you are wanting to move the 43. Btw, I’m always guilty of this too

Bvlgari Octo is the 'in thing' and gearing towards to be an icon!

Definitely my biggest struggle. Moving from a Rolex to all other options and I do not see myself stopping anytime soon.

I would recommend VC Overseas. It still has that sporty SS look that you appear to like (based on your collection) and the VC is way, way better finish and workmanship compared to the Rolex.

I like the VC Overseas but the previous version. You can find the chrono version for about the same price as the SD43. Previous version looks better with the guilloche dial.

I agree with what you’re saying, it’s just the price I can’t get my head around.

RO for me...the bracelet is so very nice.

I like the VC as well, but find the cross motif to be a bit much for me.

As for the Octo, I really like the new SS version best.

I thought the price was very reasonable, compared to the competition. it's a stunning SS sports watch from a holy trinity brand, 19k new or about 17k used lnib is amazing in my opinion. That sd43 is going for about 12k to 13k compared to the 16k to 17k for the VC, so 3k to 4k more is super worth it. You get double or triple the watch for additional 20% in money. Am I missing something here...

I certainly won't argue the better finish of the VC, as I said its beautiful.

To me it's a simple value proposition that I can't quite reconcile. To be fair they are also two totally different watches.

In CDN dollars the Overseas is roughly 25K and the SD 43 is roughly $13k. Is it twice the watch? Not to me ...

Again nothing against the VC, they are beautiful watches, I just cant quite justify the price relative to the Rolex. YMMV and I totally get that.
