Got my Jumbo back from service and not very happy

As they could actually do the overhaul here in Japan, the wait was only about 4 weeks which wasn’t bad considering the New year’s holiday. I picked it up today and all looked fine until I brought it home and gave closed inspection under the loupe. As you can see at around the 27 mark, there are two white specks under the glass. One appears to be on the dial and one appears to be on the inside of the glass.

A little disappointing to receive my watch with these contaminants. I would expect that they should be able to clean this fairly easily but what do you guys think, should I insist that they overhaul it again. If there are contaminants in the dial and under the glass, is it possible that there might be contamination in the movement as well?

Happened to mine during a service and they removed it in short order. Also happened to one of my Rolex watches as well.

Ask them to remove them if it bothers you. Worse they say is no and you're no worse off than you are now.

Same thing happened to me with my AP and the service centre removed it. Was about a week turnaround.

Thanks guys, there is a 2 year warranty on the service so I am sure they will have no problem removing it as this is Japan where Customer Service is still alive, haha.

Alright, I took it back into the Tokyo service center and they had it cleaned up and back on my wrist within 30 minutes.

Now I am happy!

By the way, after service I can tell a significant difference in the ease of winding the crown. Prior to having the issue it had gotten really hard to wind so I imagine that something happened to the seal and parts of it broke off and got into the movement. Anyway, happy to have my watch back.

Nice to hear that it got solved quickly, it's annoying with visible particles.
Regarding winding, I would bet on friction between the crown stem and it's gasket than the actual movement.

Really nice watch. Is it rose or yellow gold hard to tell in the pic.

I would get it taken care of. Would bother me enough. I had an omega serviced awhile ago and something similar happened.

Unfortunately that is a very common for any brand. It’s one of those things that I can’t understand either... simply lack of quality control. There is no excuse for dust particles to be under the crystal or on the dial.

Wow thanks for sharing. Luckily AP should handle it with no issue but still frustrating.

I'm generally weary of service unless the watch is deviating from it's normal rate of timekeeping.

Do dealerships send APs for service to Switzerland? why 4 weeks! I though it is 4 weeks in my country because we don't have certified watchmakers but apparently this is the turnaround everywhere!

Thanks for posting the photos. I really like your watch. Reminds me of the beauty of the PP 5711R.
