Trade 26331ST black to 26240ST blue ?

Hi everyone, just checking in to see what y’all think about this, tomorrow have a chance to get a new non-50th 26240ST blue dial by trading in my used 26331ST black dial , yes I need to pay a some more
to get the new one, but considering the dial color, caseback, movement etc it seems to be a better watch. Please chime in your opinions

I do not know if you want to share how much cash on top, but this seems like a very easy YES if the cost is minimal

this is also coming from somebody who loves blue dials above all else

Trade 26331ST black to 26240ST blue ?

For me would be a very good trade even with some cash on top, considering how much I dislike the asymmetrical date window on the 331 and the closed back. It’s a shame considering the nice subdials of the 331.

So a hard “do it” from me.

Long story short, the “upgrade” will cost me 20k but I’ll end up with a 26240ST at a cost of 10k over retail after all factors included, so it depends how you look at it.
(Yes, I got mine at an excellent price some time before the craze and appreciated in price)

I do love both models, but the blue dial just seems so hot on steel, and I dare say it might wear more proudly for a longer time.

Other bonuses:
brand new again, and the blue one give me some cool rubber strap options for the summer (blue/white/gray)

I'd go for it, but 20k is quite a difference, but hey you only live once.

I'm in the no way boat.

20k is halfway to a new 26240 at retail and while you don't have the exact watch, it's pretty darn close... It's not like you're disliking the style and trading up to different metals / different style of watch / different size

Is an open case back and a slightly different date window worth a Honda Civic on top of what you already have...

That's the piece only you know the answer to

No for me if it's 20k

I also quite like the look of the 331 contrasting subdials

I would rather add more money and up grade to 26240OR.

Thanks everyone for helping me here! All the opinions above are exactly why im 50/50 on this whole thing. Being my only watch doesn't make it any easier, and the fact that mine will sell for 11k more than what I paid for it tricks my mind into thinking that i'm just paying retail+10k for the newer model, which makes it under the current market price anyways

So it's actually letting 20k go just for a refresh, and getting a semi-good deal in the same day.

I’d do it. I prefer the uniform subdials (both in color and in size), the centered date window, the open caseback, the flyback functionality, and the 3D Audemars Piguet logo on the dial. The pushers are more spaced out on the 26240 and, to me, look more proportional for the 41mm case than the pushers on the 26331 which are closer together. There’s also the newer bracelet on the 26240, which is tapered and wears more comfortably than the older style bracelet on the 26331.

10k over retail would be 1.2-1.3x over retail right? If my math is right?

If that’s the case, and you really like the blue 26240st, I’d go for it. The blue 26240st is a stunning watch. Great dial, wrist presence, open case back. Albeit a bit thick.

Playing the boutique game would take longer and be more expensive probably.

It's actually 21k above retail.

Price-wise, yes. But I’m counting total money out of pocket, because I have profit on my old one. If not for that, I wouldn’t even consider.

If you’ll love the blue dial more, and $$$ isn’t an issue, I’d make the move. Live happy and responsibly

No for me. $20k is big jump and like others I like the contrasting subdials of the 26331

Its much thicker and wears chunkier almost like an offshore. I think slimness is important for a RO hence I prefer the older ROCs

I get it. The 26240 is amazing, you won't regret it!

Honest for 20k, I rather do a trade towards a blue dial 26331st and pay much less. I also do happen to like the contrast of the sub-dial on the 26331.

At the end of the day, you like what you like, do not listen to a bunch of dudes on the internet. Just make sure you are getting the right value for your watch in the trade.
