I think I’m going to do it...I’m going to buy an Apple watch

Just my own personal view. You wanna get the Hermès version, be my guest. I hope you enjoy it. I just don’t see the point, as I’ve stated.

I would perhaps check why you reacted so strongly to someone’s contradictory opinion - one that I don’t think is controversial, insulting, or personal in the slightest.

Your last answer is perhaps the oddest - Do you tart your computer up with leather and designer collabs? No.

You believe that response was serious? Sometimes sarcasm is hard to convey in textual communications. It was a light hearted response. There’s a bit of truth there, but I’m slamming myself only. Refer to my earlier posts. I DID buy the Hermès edition and returned it.
Reread my response with this in mind. And I appreciate your willingness to allow me to buy whatever I want.

Google just spent 2.1 billion buying Fibit, like it or not, wearables is a big and important market.

Yes I know some said what is the point of smartwatches, just use your phone, but remember, one key difference is the watch is always in contact with your skin, that is one area many in the healthcare industry would like to explore. Currently the tech is pretty much limited to just heart rate, but as sensor technologies improve, perhaps blood pressure, insulin levels, and etc., and be monitored though the watch.

You have dinner parties?

ps. You do know this is a Rolex forum right? I mean our tiny unpleasant thing here began with your feelings about the Hermès edition and I basically agreed with you.

Unpleasant thing? I thought it was a joke?

Talk about mixed messages. And generally the forum doesn't matter, the content does.

Anyway, have a nice Sunday. I'm done. You can go be an aggressive douche to someone else.

I tried like twice and after some time I just wanted to see my beloved metal alive and ticking mechanical watch on my wrist. I am again thinking to do it with AW5 but I feel will be getting tired after a week.. sometimes I try to have a break from the watch buying and big spending hobby of ours but it seems there is no easy way out

I have the white ceramic edition. Love it. Been wearing an iteration or another for 3/4 years now. Can’t do without.

Let me know if you find any worthwhile apps. I’ve had mine a year and it is used only as a vibrating alarm and as a golf watch!

I just use the heart rate measurement and the weather. Nothing else. That said I’ve only worn it 4x

I owned an Apple watch and since upgraded to slimmer Fitbit. I wear both my Fitbit and Mechanic watch on each hand.

I think the best way to appreciate the Apple Watch is to dial in the notifications, apps and features that work best for the individual. If one doesn't control the notifications, they will drive a person crazy.

When I wear my AW, my notifications are set to texts, headlines from the WSJ and Washington Post and weather alerts. I do wear it every night to track my sleep and use it as a wakeup alarm. In addition, I use it to track exercise.

This week, I'm wearing the Apple Watch daily to complete the January challenges in the fitness app. Next week, I'll probably go back to the mechanicals for daily wear and go back to the AW just for overnight.

I really like, and appreciate, all watches. I will always have an Apple Watch in my collection because it is so useful for me but YMMV.

Here are some of my favorites:

It unlocks my Mac just by being next to it.
Apple Pay.
Navigation (with maps) on your wrist ... great when walking around, very low key.
I love the activity rings.
Subtle vibrating alarm on my wrist so I don't wake up the entire house when I get up at 5AM (pretty much every day).
Running watch.
Temperature and rain % at a glance.
Quick calculator.
Voice memos.
Siri for playing / changing tunes when the phone is locked (driving for example).
Remote control for the Apple TV and Homepod when nothing else is at hand.
Shazam.
Breathing app is nice and relaxing.

To a lesser degree ... calendar and to-do reminders ...

I have most notifications turned off, except for phone calls as I tend to miss half of them otherwise. I even answered a couple calls from the watch a couple times I could not find my phone.

It's also nice to have a back up phone if you run out of battery or just don't have your main with you.

These are the ones that come to mind. It is by far my favorite device and I wear it most of the time.

Oh, I forgot ... I can open my garage door, pay for parking and call an uber. Not to mention Apple Music streaming straight from the watch, EKG and fall detection (for us elderly folks ... well, getting there anyway).

Unfortunately, google seems to have suspended support for Nest.

All this from my wrist ... I think it is pretty awesome. And I love the look and feel of the white ceramic.

Can anyone with the Hermes version (either 41 or 45 mm) measure what the strap width is at the lug?
