Won't start after winding.. Help
I just purchased a vintage datejust 6917 ladies watch. I followed the instructions on how to set the time, date, and wind the watch. I screwed the crown back into place. This is my first Rolex so I don't know what to do now. Thought I would ask before going to a watch repair shop. Thanks.

You could try giving it s shake to get the balance going. Just t
Remember the balance is running in the same plane as the dial. So shake in a twisting motion trying to get the dial to spin. If it doesn't start then take it straight back. |

I have an Exp II that I have to give a few hard taps with my finger to get it going. Others start ticking after a few turns of the crown.

No reason to investigate, if the watch doesn't run upon winding, take it to your AD and have it looked at. Could be zillion things!

That's a sad first post. Purchased from a reputable place that will welcome you back with your issue?

Update
I had the watch looked at. When he looked at it under a microscope he saw hairs inside the watch which were causing it to catch. So whoever did the cleaning wasn't very clean. eww. The charge to service will be high so I am hoping the place in CA will help with that since they claimed to have serviced the watch.

If the watch doesn't run unless shaken, the service has been done poorly (dirt as stated or bad adjustment), or there is too much trouble in the escapement and the watch needs service.
