Scottsdale auto auctions - anyone?
I don't have a lot on my bucket list, and some of the travel that I want to do (Japan, Hawaii, etc.) is limited by the fact that I hate to fly more than a few hours.
But I've always thought it would be neat to go to Scottsdale when they have all of those great classic car auctions. Barrett-Jackson, Bonhams, etc. And some of the auctions also have contemporary cars. I'm not looking for anything particular, but who knows what may strike my fancy? Of course, the downside is buying a car at auction has its risks, and rarely is there a real bargain. Anyone done this?

I watch Barrett-Jackson and Mecum auctions when they’re on tv. I’ve seen quite a few cars go over the block that I would have been more than happy to pay the hammer price for. Good luck on fulfilling your bucket list!!

The Barrett Jackson is an awesome auction! I’ve been several times. Enjoy!

Mecum’s house on Lake Geneva was pointed out to me a couple of weekends ago. These auctions seem to be go for some (think Duke & Duke)!

https://www.priceypads.com/sprawling...-photos-video/ I’d give it like 6 days before I broke one of those silly lights on the wall in the staircase off in a drunken ascent or descent of the stairs. Gorgeous house though. Sent from my Apple privacy invasion product |

Been there numerous times however only as a spectator. As you said, between the inflated auction prices, commissions and then shipping charges there are not many bargains. Nonetheless, they are fun to attend and in addition to B-J, there are several other auctions such as Russo and Bonham that each offer something a little different. Lots of fun if you are into cars as well as memorabilia.

That's a long way from Hudson, OH! I used to live in Akron when I first got out of school...

It's about 8.5 hours. 430 miles if we do the Skyway, and about 450 miles if we do the bypass. Didn't make it up there this Summer, but will for sure next Summer. Mom and Dad are originally from Milwaukee, and I still have family and property in LG.

Nothing ordinary about LG WI !!! May be the most beautiful inland lake in the universe. Lake Tahoe is a close second. Door County is also a great place to visit. I don't necessarily like the newer homes on LG, but the older houses are beyond beautiful. It was called the "Newport of The West" for good reason. Lots of beautiful wood boats there and the fishing is great too.
