Brize Norton to Cyprus in a C-130 Hercules, what a nightmare. Had to wear Ear Plugs.

Okinawa to Hawaii in the back of a KC-130J. Long cold and loud flight - but we could get up and stretch out. Did the Florida to the middle east to Florida, once a month for a 3-year period. Worst was Tampa to DFW to Doha - yeah went west to go east (LoL). Never had a bad flight j- just had better.

I flew from there a couple of times, on the occasion I went to Cyprus, it will have been in 76. (I think, I went twice, on the other occasion it was in a RAF VC 10). It felt like the Herc took about 4 months to get there.

Not a big world traveler, so return from Paris to NY, about 8.5 hours. Which was more than long enough for me.

Been to the Islands a few times. And to Canada. But Paris was our favorite.

"We will always have Paris."

OK Its official as we just got our NEGATIVE PCR Results back for our journey back to States after 3 months on The island.. Qatar requires a PCR Test within 48 hours of the departure if coming from SriLanka. We had the results in less then 12 hours and quite a relief as you just dont know.. Since we are under curfew/lockdown a permit from the police department is required. SriLanka has suspended all inbound passengers until 1st of June but outbound flights will continue...24 hours of travel ahead shortly..:)

I won a backward-facing seat on an RAF VC10 flight in a lottery for the Silver Jubilee celebrations in 1977. Just a quick circuit from Brize over the counties, but it was my first flight aged 13 and quite a thrill. Did a Herc circuit a couple of years later on the ATC annual Wing Parade. My best school friend's dad was an Air Loadmaster, and they'd lived in Akratiri earlier. Good times

Time is relative, isn't it?

On a beautiful warm, windless summers evening we once flew 3 miles in an hour, from Wisborough Green to Petworth. (West Sussex)

Time over Distance.
I claim my prize!

We were in the basket slung beneath a hot air balloon.

This is also my longest flight and on one trip I was unfortunate enough to only spend about 14 hours on the ground in Joburg and then got right back on the return flight - with a really messed up internal clock and barely able to sleep (which is not usually my problem)...

One trip: Houston the Minneapolis, Minneapolis to Narita, Narita to Shanghai. Same in reverse back to Houston after 1 week in Shanghai. The leg between MN and Narita was at least 15 hours. Full trip each way was 26 hours including layovers.

Never again.

Never went longer than LA to Narita; did it a number of times!!! Long enough!!! From Tucson to Narita, door to door was about a 24 hour haul.

My single speed needs a bit of TLC atm but have been splitting rides 50/50 between it and my Cannondale rush lately.I need a bit of TLC as well, had a few decent injuries so far this year. My knee is definitely holding me back at this point. It's been ~100 miles / week of single track for me. Switched to plant based, been hovering at 158lbs 5'10 ever since. Finally broke 14 average on my go to course, started the season at 42 minutes for the 9.25 loop and I've gotten it down below 38, hoping to KOM it by the end of the season, but that's going to be a bit more body work and testing out my Dean 29er set up with xtr 1x11 components and a carbon lefty weighing in around 20lbs for a full suspension MTB. Should be a great riding season, I feel I've gotten a good start on my goals already

Its all about getting out and doing something that challenges you both physically and mentally. I myself have kept my fat body away for the last 15 years with not a single pound gained. You set goals and then you follow them and thats how it works... How big is your DESIRE and WANT TO...!

15.5hrs with a 2 year old has RealFeel time of 50% more, which would put your flight time feeling at 23.25 hours. That's impressive

Seattle to Seoul, South Korea. 15 hours. And that was after jumping all over the US, from Cincinnati, to Pittsburgh, to NYC, to Denver, and then Seattle...

I was practically a zombie upon my arrival in Seoul.

This thread made me think about the whole concept of sitting and waiting etc.

When I was growing up in a small Canadian city, if we were going to go to a movie and it started at 7PM, we'd leave home at 6:45 and when we drove by, if there was a line at the theater of 10 people we'd cancel and go another night.

I used to fly from Calgary to Indiana, actually Chicago for seminars/workshops and although it was something like 3-4 hours (which seemed like a lifetime) that was my longest trip. However on one flight, which was supposed to be non stop, we had to connect in Winnipeg. We landed, it started snowing like crazy. We got on the new plane, then got off the new plane, we got on again, they de-iced, again, then we got off again, then they cancelled the flight. Then I had to stand in line for 4 hours to get on the next flight in the morning. Then stand in line for 2 hours to get a taxi to a hotel. No cell phone to play with, no iPad to play with. Just stand there.

From that point on, standing in line or waiting never bothered me.

My wife flies internationally all the time. She's used to cancelled flights, delayed departures, days lasting 20 hours in and out of airports. For her a 6 hour flight to Hawaii is nothing. On a flight from Hawaii a couple of years ago we got on a broken plane and we were supposed to depart at around noon. We finally left 11 hours later.

Long story.....long. Once a person does the long flights and delays, you sort of get used to it and it doesn't bother you that much. Sort of.
