One of our members, BruceS, posted some pix of his Explorer on a carbon strap last year and it looked great! Colemanitis recently posted pix of his GMTII on a strap I sold him... have a look. It was on Tuesday I think.

Not a great fan of carbon straps, but I do think it would look great on leather.

It was Colemanitis' pics that gave me the idea. I've checked a few links posted here for suppliers and I fancy leather with a deployment clasp. BTW where did you (or do you) go for these items??

I'm gonna rock the boat here and opine that the Explorer's clean dial is better complemented by the Oyster.

Bah! What do you know?

No question the oyster looks best on any Rolex, but with the strap you can change the look and feel of your watch. Whenever I changed to a strap, it was like looking at a brand new watch on my wrist.

I just never got into the Blue Oyster leather fetish thing ...

Seriously, much as I try I just can't seem to take to straps. A good part of that is that I'm pretty careless when it comes to water and watches, and I've never liked the feeling of a damp strap.

But with a strap you can have 2 watches: 1 for going out to a cocktail bar to have a drink and 1 to conquer the Everest!
