I was adjusting the time when I pulled on the crown it came all the way out. I pushed it back in place and screwed it back down. Of course now I can't adjust the time but luckily I had it set to GMT and it is easy to adapt to any time zone until I get it repaired.

Question: Is this a serious repair or will it be a simple and quick fix?

New to the forum and look forward to hanging out.

According to Rolex, there are no "quick fixes".

If the watch is under warranty, they will take care of it free of charge.

Welcome to TRF, Robert. Bummer on the problem. Don't try to fix it yourself. But as George said, if it's under warranty, take it back to RSC and they will fix it for free.

Welcome to TRF Robert I see you list your watch as a vintage 1675 GMT is this correct.But it sounds like a trip to your service RSC is recommended,when was last service carried out.It could just be a loose crown stem screw needs fixing, but if needed,replacing the crown is not a difficult repair.

I had this happen to a Rolex I had in 1992. Rolex wanted $400 to fix it so I sold it. I wish I never sold it and had it fixed instead!

Thanks for the responses. Its a 1977 and no longer under warranty. It has been serviced and cleaned over the years and now it will be sent off for repair.

Had that happen one time myself. I'm not a watch maker, but it's my understanding that a little screw can work loose (or maybe was not tightened properly at last service).
Not hared to fix, but a trip to RSC and a service would be a good move.

Why does it HAVE to go to RSC, wouldn't something like this be a fix a local Authorized Watchmaker could fix, and cheaper?

Oh it doesn't have to. A local authorized watchmaker could easily fix it.
For a complete service including polish RSC is the way to go IMHO.

It will be going to a local guy who I have done alot of business with and trust him with my rolex. For a complete overhaul I would send it to RCS but for something as simiple as this, no.

I agree Mike, I thought he just wanted the watch repaired. I can't wait until my SD is vintage like what you guys have.
