RG Rootbeer GMT vs RG Day Date...
I recently acquired the RG Day Date and I also have the TT CHNR. I really love the idea of a full RG sports watch, which leaves me to the Daytona or the GMT II Rootbeer (I suppose you could also argue the Skydweller could be considered as well). As much as I love the Day Date and the presedential bracelet, I am typically wearing shorts/jeans and t shirts 90% of the time. So something about the full RG GMT with the oyster bracelet keeps drawing me in as it wears a little more casual I'd say. Another plus is the ceramic bezel just for added protection and to prevent additional wear.
Any made a similar move? Thoughts? |

This is probably a situation of the grass always being greener on the other side. Or of us always looking for an excuse to buy the other piece. ;-)
I have the RG GMT and lust after the RG DD (that green dial!). Been telling myself they’re too similar to have both. But it’s only a matter of time. |

That black dial Daytona is high on my list as well. That's also the hard part, trying to pick maybe 1 favorite of each previous metal for the long term collection.

My thought process as well. The black dial 116505 was my favorite everose model of all the combinations I've seen and tried on through the years so I didn't hesitate when my AD offered it to me. Now I'm trying to narrow down my yellow gold favorites.

I own RG DD and RG GMT. I will take the 126715 all day long as I love GMT’s and prefer sports watch myself. Also love the ez link which gives me that extra room on a really hot day. It’s my favorite overall watch in my collection! Go for it you will love it!

I wear my RG DD40 green dial in shorts and t-shirts all the time. Pick the watches that sing to you and wear them in ways that make you happy. If you are trying to set up a “one of each metal collection”, it might help to start by eliminating models that you don’t like or which are super hard to get. For example, you really seem to like the RG GMTII. Perhaps that means you buy that, avoid the hard to source WG GMTII, get the quintessential YG DD40, and round it out with a WG Daytona. Good luck. So much fun spending other people’s money! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think it's good to have it in the collection, get it when you have a chance.

I love your chocolate motif dial. I’ve only seen 2 members including you post pics of it.

The 126715CHNR is the best Rose gold watch in the Rolex lineup. It’s a perfect combination of sport and PM.

Bumping this back to the top. Every time I try on my DD40 I really do love it. Like someone else said maybe it’s a case of the grass is always greener on the other side. As much as I love it, I just wonder if the oyster bracelet would be more suitable to wearing more often and causing a little less look at me moments (presidential and fluted). Most likely if i did trade, I’d have to put out a few k (3-5) extra to get into the GMT immediately. Or I’d wait and ask nicely with my AD. I’ve tried on the gmt rootbeer, but it was a few years back. So I can’t say I’ve compared closely recently. Current collection is z blue milgauss, JC deep sea, rose gold Daytona with pink dial on oysterflex, and then currently the dd40. It’s nice to have the different bracelet in the lineup with the dd40, I just don’t want it to be stuck sitting in the safe more often than not.
