The new blue dial almost makes me want to trade in my old 16622 for it.

If I stepped into the ADs with it on I think I would have to do that trade...

Is the blue dial on the yacht-master the same as the one in the TT Sub and WG Sub?

The blue on the YM is not the same as the blue on the subs you mentioned. The WG Sub, aka "The Smurf" blue is flat, ie no sunburst pattern. The older TTSubC dial was flat like the WG, but the new TT Bluesy is a darker blue but with the same sunburst effects.

Unusual on the white rubber but I like it! Also would look good on a navy blue rubber if available? Nice piece congrats

Bob, I share the same fondness for blue dials, have a Patek 3738 white gold with blue dial and the 5712 1/A. Was not a fan of Rolex until I discovered vintages last year and acquired a few. Recently, I saw the modern Datejust in blue dial and thought that the hue on the sunburst dial is interesting, close to my 3738G but at a much friendlier price point. I finally acquired it as it and modified it by fully brushing the steel instead of PCL to look more low key and reminds me of the olden day Datejusts 1600 and 16000. Here it is. I believe the blue is similar to the Yacht Master's.

Very nice review and great watch. YM's are not for everyone as you mentioned, but what a great watch it is!

Mine says hi!

The platinum dial YM was discontinued? Did the rhodium dial with the blue second hand replace it?

Not sure the rhodium "replaces it" but the platinum dial has been discontinued.

The 16622 or 116622 is the only watch you would ever need. I sold my only midsize Yacht-master two tone 35mm which I had for 10 years and got me a 2009 16622 with the triple r. I also have the grey face not the blue face and I still own it and I think it is the most practical watch

This is my only watch and I'm planning on trading it for a WG Sub for my 30th Birthday, still a few years away. But man, its a great watch.
