Unless you have a ton of experience and know exactly what to look for, buying from a brick and mortar (except an AD) just because you can hold it in your hand in no way guarantees you less of a chance of getting ripped off. I'd say reputation is more valuable. This would be important for someone new to Rolex to keep in mind. |

I know that you indicated that you wanted to give your dad a Rolex, and this is a Rolex forum, but......
For an amount close to what you've indicated, you could source something like an Omega Speedmaster Professional brand new with box and lots of extras. This is a watch that has an amazing history (only watch certified by NASA for space travel, only watch worn on the moon) and would make a great gift. This watch is also very "unlike" what you have said your dad already has. Again, a trusted seller (check TRF who's who) would be a good place to find a seller that has been vetted by a bunch of anal watch fanatics......

Look through the classifieds here and choose a trusted seller. You'll get a watch that's better than advertised, save money, and have it the next day.

Beckertime has some good deals at times...check out their other offerings and be sure to read the entire description so you know if it is indeed an aftermarket bracelet you are purchasing.
If you take any trips to DFW area or Houston, there are plenty of pre-owned Rolex stores. Good luck with your search! |

Thanks Wayneside.
Off topic, are you going to HIN in Houston in December? I'm planning on being there. |

Beckertime is a legitimate seller. You won't get scammed there. They also have an online store without having to go to eBay and they offer $100 off online coupons there.
They do have a lot of aftermarket bracelets, that's true. But if you search for a watch with no aftermarket pieces at all they also have them. Bob's watches are also legit but their prices are higher than Beckertime's. David SW has an outstanding reputation here but a quick search on their website didn't show anything within the budget you mentioned. The key word here being "quick".
