Vintage Swatch

Got this watch long ago. Still working perfectly. Any "vintage" Swatch fans here?

I'm not a Swatch fan, but it brings back some good memories.

Back in the early 90's a buddy and me would run to shops looking for watches, Levis and sneakers. Anyway he would go onto the jewelry stores and buy every Swatch chronograph and Scuba they would have, then bring them back to Japan and sell them.
He would have stacks of them on his desk in his apartment.

Yep i have a chrono one on a blue sharkskin like strap. Remembering correctly originally it had a plastic expanding bracelet with a pattern, like mini pyramids on it. Horrible so changed the strap right away.

It still works and is in it original box. Actually put it on my wrist last month when i rediscovered it.

I've owned some in the past, but I don't have any currently. My first watch memory was about a Swatch though, sometime in the late 80's.

They were kept in a display case at JCPenny (or maybe Leggett), where my mother would often shop. I remember seeing them visit after stupid visit to that department store. I distinctly remember one day having a major meltdown because (again) she wouldn't buy me a black model with the red, snap-on protective piece, insisting my "birthday was coming up." I can't imagine the amount of tears, snot, and drool I must've gotten on that case as they literally peeled me off of it. There is a happy ending, however; I did get the very same watch for my birthday.

Moral of the story: I blame my mom for my watch addiction.

I used to love swatches back in the mid 80’s early 90’s ... especially the all clear with colorful hands (before the clear plastic turned yellow). The clear case with mirror dial was another favorite. Unfortunately nothing left to shoot pics.

Wow. I thought the Sistem51 was the first mechanical watch offered by Swatch. This is interesting. Thanks for sharing.

I had the original Jellyfish in the mid 1980s. Thought it was pretty awesome at the time
