Ladies' Oysterdate (Second Try)
Here's a pic (with a Stone cap for scale) of the family's first Rolex, my wife's '79 Oysterdate. First task: proper period bracelet, if someone could please advise on style and size; second, a Rolex for me, 'cause I'm feeling left out.

78350, oyster solid ss bracelet (19mm).
Actually it is a mens watch. Nowdays 34mm Rolex (as ref 6694) are seen too "small" for men simply because of the lately big sport watches fashion. I hope soon "small" Rolex are considered again as the classic nice Rolex icon. If you like vintage non sport rolex you should go for a 36mm DJ / Day Date model. If you are looking for a sport model a sub ref 5513, orGMT ref 1675 Good luck! |

Thanks very much for the reply. This can't be a men's watch, though: it's 29 mm excluding crown. It's really odd: I can't find much info about ladies' models (plenty of Tudor, but no Rolex).
For me, I think it'll be a 1016. |

It looks in very good condition, clear dial and lume dots, nice classic .
Is it the photo or the 11 o'clock bar is not shiny ? Enjoy !

Thanks, George. Just a poor photo, sorry (I'm a pro photographer but no close-up lens for my Leicas).

I would put a red lizard band on that watch for a woman and jazz it up. The ss link bands are boring (to me) and make it look more manly. If your wife likes a color, get a good animal skin strap with a pop of color to draw attention to the watch. This watch is pretty bland to begin with so it needs some zip to it.

Herself is a severe, tough-looking (sometimes) character who really prefers the steel. I'm rather fond of the red, but I doubt she'll bite.
