Incoming - Tudor 1926!
Hi all!
Recently the Tudor 1926 captured my attention. I have been on the look out for a clean, affordable classic elegant dress watch for years now, and I think my calling has finally come. Just an elegant clean, silver-dial dress watch on leather strap was all I was after as a companion to my 16610 Submariner. These two and you are covered for all occasions! So I headed out to my AD and checked it out - the 36mm version, nice and classic elegant / vintage size. It is also available in 28mm, 39mm and 41mm which I think is great that Tudor is able to offer. Because not all wrists are created equal! The thing is, the Tudor 1926 comes only on a Tudor Jubilee-style bracelet which I'm not really a fan of. I'd only wear it on leather (black or brown), so I even brought a black leather strap along with me to the AD to see if it suits it... and it did! It took me all of 2 seconds to say "Yep, I'll take it!" and then left the store with it, a very happy man. Tudor 1926 36mm case Reference: M91450-0001 Stainless steel case and bezel Silver dial What I like: - Vintage inspired by the Tudor Oyster Air Tiger (pic below) - Waffle dial - Step dial minute track perimeter (aka 'domed dial') - Leaf hands - Contrasting gold hands and markers - Screw-down crown and 100m water resistance - tough enough for my everyday abuse - Date (I know I know... a proper dress watch shouldn't have date, but I need it so I don't care! ) - Elegant, curved slender lugs - Polished case - Incredibly thin case at just over 9mm thickness - ETA 2824 workhorse movement. I just love the classic Tudor-ETA combo. - The price point! At AUD $2,098 it is just phenomenal value for money. - The name '1926' comes from the year that Hans Wilsdorf officially registered the Tudor company name. What I'm not particularly fond of (inevitably every watch has its pros and cons!): - Arabic even-numbered numerals. Wish they were all stick markers instead. - Flat sapphire crystal. Would have liked a domed crystal on this one. - Would have been nice to bring back 'PRECISION SHOCK-RESISTING' on the dial rather than 'ROTOR SELF-WINDING'. - The Tudor Shield logo. Should have brought back the Tudor Rose logo. - Of course, no leather strap option! Forced me to purchase it on the Jubilee (which I won't use) and put it on aftermarket leather strap and buckle. All in all, pros and cons considered, I absolutely love this watch - I think Tudor have hit the sweetspot with this one. I hope this inspires you lovely people to consider this gem! Enjoy the pics below. The last pic is the gorgeous Tudor Oyster Air Tiger, circa 1950's, in which the 1926 drew inspiration from Cheers |

Really like that waffle dial. I think it would look better on a brown leather strap though.
Although the 36mm looks good on you, did you consider the 39mm? |

My AD didn’t have a 39mm so didn’t get the chance to try it - but immediately fell in love with the 36 so there was no need to. Totally agree that it looks great on brown too! Here’s a wristshot: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Great watch! I also prefer the rose over the shield.

Congrats! That's a nice piece. I've been waiting to see one in person, about 6 weeks ago I stopped at the Tudor boutique to inquire and they didn't know what I was talking about. I might be on board for one. I like the looks of the bracelet as well. Great pickup. Enjoy that beauty...

Congratulations and very nice! I really think a strap option would have been perfect for this one; really makes the dial pop with that leather.

Wow, looks much better on the strap than I expected. Gives it a whole different personality. Makes it look more retro, and makes the waffle dial standout more. Could easily be mistaken for a vintage piece. Wonder why they don't offer a strap option. Many too many SKUs?

Smooth move with the leather strap. It really takes the watch up to the next level. Well played, and congrats!

Nice watch! Congratulations. I'm also on the fence for this one (or it's black variant) in 36mm. It looks cool on your wrist. Definitely the 36mm size is the one to go with its vintage aestethics. How the accuracy has been? Thanks in advance!!!

Hi,
What is the lug width on the 36mm? And where did you buy the strap? Looks awesome |
