Rolex Greys and JM will pay you "spot" for yours but sell theirs at a far higher spread (still lower overall price than before) now than before the vol spike. The timelines for this to play out in Rolex market may be months vs days due to lower liquidity.
Ah agreed. Effectively wholesale vs retail.

I am looking at a $10K plus watch on the sight posted by the OP and I’m ready to buy if/when that price range reflects a $500 discount.

It seems like I’m receiving a much higher volume of emails from gray market sellers, but I’m not really seeing discounts larger than normal.....yet.

I have been inundated by emails from my AD as well, advertising women’s jewelry, but I’m holding out for the Rolex supply chain to reopen.

Buyers are drying up slowly and speculators have left the building. The market will change with the propped up prices as the world enters recession. The trend will go back to MSRP with a discount.

I'd like to believe it will drop that far but I think it's unlikely. Supply will drop for a while slowing the fall.

I think it's time the greys that are controlling the market through private chat groups get taken to the cleaners.

It's all been madness. Above msrp for any SS Rolex outside of the Daytona is absurd.

Even worse than absurd is what has happened to vintage, such as the 39mm Polar Explorer II, cal 3185 and especially 3186. The prices are insanity and unfortunately they shot up when I was ready to finally buy one (all had to do with the divorce -- the bloody b#*ch).

Oh well. I go without and just wear my newer Seamaster 300 (holy shit, do they lose value).

Watches are just watches, not bars of gold. At the moment I have plenty of toilet paper and food, with not nearly enough money coming in. Heaven help us.

I dont know what you are referring to when saying that they are controlling the market but antitrust laws are nothing to sneeze at and I actually want to believe they know that.

It’s started ... trusted seller offering $500 discount

In 6 months they’ll be below MSRP, like a used shoe.

Even before COVID, you could PM David and ask him for a discount and depending on the watch he would grant you something.

If you are a buyer for a certain watch, and have cash in hand, David will deal with you for the watch you want.

Yes. I'be bought numerous watches from him and he was always so fair in lowering the price I stopped asking. His prices have always been fair market value.

Shout out to JustRolex Tony too. Always fair, fast and great customer service.

Has DavidSW been forced to start collecting state tax yet? All the big camera stores as well as ebay now siphon off the tax.

Feels good to wait my turn, buy only what I love at MSRP and now not to sweat grey market fluctuations.

Too little, too late.

Greys are bagholders; but, hey, they had quite a run.

Yeah my thoughts too.

Reminds me of 2007/2008 when the housing bond market was still at record levels even though the underlying value was tanking.

Haha. Good one. Nothing completes the steel sports look like belt-less dress pants.
