Identify this Rolex DJ

Hello everybody!

This is my first Rolex Forums post, so if I make any newbie mistakes....please be gentle

Can anyone please help my identify this exact Datejust?

I was searching the Internet but wasn't having any success. Looks kinda like Ref. 16000...or somewhere around there.

I am especially interested in the markers at 6 and 9 wich seem to be a bit wider than the other ones. Also love the minute dots and second lines on the most outer ring of the dial.

About to fall in love with this exact watch. This and the Explorer 1016

Cheers
Pinot

Looks like a 1601 or 16014

It's a 1601, at least the bezel is. The ref is between the lugs at 12 and the serial is at 6. Same dial on this one except this watch has gold print.

1968 1603

It's hard to see in the photo, but if there is a step around the edge of the dial, that would also indicate ref 1601 vs 16014 (both have fluted gold bezels). Of course, that reference doesn't specify the specific dial; there were many variations of those. You can probably find similar dials, but flat, on a ref 16014 if you look. The 16000 has a smooth bezel, and the 1603/16030 has an engine-turned bezel as nicely illustrated by @Richard Carver's beautiful watch.

It is indeed a 1601. The OP's dial is a 'pie-pan' dial, you can tell clearly from the picture.

Thank you all!

Amazing how you spotted the right model. Intressting also the different Details that tell you the correct ref number.

Richard Carver...that's a really nice watch you got there!
