SCAM ALERT fistwatches - pledge member/active forum member

I believe I was scammed by this user "fistwatches".

He has been a contributing member for a year and a half and provided me with past feedback of his sales. Two were emails accounts that I reached out to, 1 from TRF and 1 from Breitling forums. While I was suspicious that they could all be him using alt accounts, I assumed that since he was a long standing member here, that I would be safe. He also provided me with a timestamp with my name in it.

Once funds went through, I have not heard from him in two days. I have messaged him multiple times on here and through emails. I know he has seen these messages because he has been online and even made posts in other threads since then.

I would love to be able to work this out with Mike Shawne (if thats a real name) if this is some misunderstanding and remove this post but unfortunately for me, it doesn't look like that is the case.

Sorry to read this.

'fistwatches' is still a valid member with watches for sale in the TRF classifies. You should go to the sale ad for the watch you bought and click the red triangle to the left of the post and report this info to the admin and mods. He needs to be banned before he scams someone else.

I hope you are able to get this resolved.

Why didn't you buy it from a business that accepts credit cards?

Always a bad feeling to come across such posts.
OP, file a police report and see if the bank can help reverse the transaction as this is a case of flat out fraud. I sincerely hope you're made whole. Might have to make repeated calls to the bank or visit the branch and have the manager help out. Fight this tooth and nail.

Did he PM you and ask you to email him instead of replying to his PM? If so this is a a scam where the members real account has been hacked and the scammer creates an email that looks legit.

Did you get this worked out? There is another member SFOB who said his name is Mike Shawne selling a 126710 Batgirl. Hesitant to deal with him if its the same person.

Any ideas of what to do next?

Both accounts mentioned in this thread were banned the day they were reported. Sep 2 and Dec 15.

It's SFOB, not FSOB, and you can ask admin (Lol-x) for that info.

SFOB was already banned when I checked earlier, so one of the other mods was already on it

There is no joy for those scammed like this. I hope you can get recompensed or Justice.

The only thing I can offer is we all need to focus on transacting with the most trusted, long-time, respected dealers here on TRF. Their livelihood depends upon a great reputation and they stand behind their deals 100% to preserve it.

Who are they? A good start is the list of boutiques in the FS section.

There are others that are well-trusted on TRF, but the list I mentioned above should meet any modern watch buying needs.

Try not wiring to anyone! Always use CC , even if you have to pay discount extra. If they refuse , find another seller - there is no shortage of sellers.

This +1. While this sucks, as I’ve said many times having watched this for ~10 years here, takes 2 to get scammed: scammer and a buyer who’s willing to take that risk to save a few bucks, or unwilling to do serious research to be super careful with money, or to whom the moneys not all that material, etc.

I’ll never understand these threads. Too many great sellers to deal with someone new. Hope you get the money back, but we haven’t heard many success stories.
