Which AP RO is the best?

Always been curious about this with all the hype around certain ones. Never seen a thread/poll on it before.

I have the blue 15300, but voted 40th 15202, it is clearly the best, but already having at the time I got it, 2 ultra thin Pateks, I thought it would be a better choice to have a thicker watch, even more now as I have 3 ultra thin PP. the second hand, quickset date and screwdown crown did play a role, but if I didn't have other watches my favorite would be the Jumbo.

Also not a fan of the 15400, don't like the proportions, ąd don't like the old Jumbo, the new one is perfect, followed by 15300 IMHO

Blue 15400 would be my first choice.

My wrist is small so the smallest of those, with blue dial, would be my choice. 39mm would be great.

I am actually surprised the 15400 is almost even with the 15202.

I did vote for the 15400. Tho aesthetically 15202 is sexier no doubt about that but, no screw down crown is a pass for me + I prefer a little thickness just personal preference I guess. A second hand is a plus as well. Got to say that I prefer the AP lettering than automatic.

15300 for the size, the proportions on the dial and the price

15202 anni is what I picked although I own the 15400. Most balanced all around, true to the original and AP located at 6 o'clock is a winner imo.

15300 & 15202 best size at 39mm but the 15300 to me is least visually appealing. AP at 12 is a bit awkward and no marker at date window. Symmetry throws me off a bit.

But.... being able to try these all in person (15202 in gold... no ST to see), although I have small wrist. 15400 best bang for your buck. It didn't really look that much bigger in person. Symmetry is there. 15202 anni in a blue dial would be next!

Why does everyone not like no screw down crown? Why is it that big a deal? Same with the no second hand? lol.

These 2 to me doesn't seem like a huge deal. The thinnness or thickness I could understand. For me I don't mind having a super thin RO for work, because I'll have my 44mm RG to satisfy my needs for a big watch. What is still interesting to me is the 15300 is going up in value while the 15400 is going down. But this poll indicates the opposite should happen.

Hi,

Is it because the 15400 is still manufactured and "easily" available while not the 15300?

It is cheating. I'll admit the gold 15407 is the best RO lol. Actually even more so the platinum 15202 openwork is even better. Or maybe even the ceramic PC RO.

But this isn't a question for complicated RO. Just the basic royal oak. I wanted to see which version of the plain jane royal oak that people preferred.

Now, this is 'the' grail AP watch. Too bad it just went to the chosen few who got an allocation in 2012. Not sure if it has since appeared in auctions but, if so, it would be unaffordable anyway.

Maybe on a different wrist. Your wrist seems too small for your watch.

Yea was a bad angle and that shirt cuff was pushing the watch onto my ulnar styloid and dorsum of the hand.
I do agree the lugs of AP are wider than most any other watch.

Saw one on sale on Chrono24 some while ago, was selling for 120k, don't know what was the retail, but as I understand they only did 40 of those, and it's not 15202 but 15204

Nice Sam, if that watch did exist I would clearly be in the list for one, love both, but in one it is awesome

I thought they took exactly the 40th anniversary and openworked it. How can you tell the difference?
