Hello every one,

Lately i was thinking to buy Jaeger LeCoultre watch, Small seconds tribute
I never had a piece from JLC before, i only have one Rolex datejust.
So please let me know what do you think if the brand, and which watch would you choose from the market with 10,000 dollars budget?

I like the history of the brand and many of the photographs of the watches but my ownership experience left me without any passion for the watch. No issues, just nothing.

JLC is a revered brand due in no small part to the role they have had in supplying movements to other manufacturers, but many users, when they’ve had an issue with their watch, have found themselves being treated as cash cows as a result of claims that their watch was user damaged.
Aside from that aspect, and in relation to the specific watch referenced, I really can’t stand the look of the Reverso.

As for which other watch to spend $10K on, there are any number if you’re prepared to consider pre-owned, which is where you’re most likely to get the greatest value for the outlay.
Take a look at Chrono24 and see what pieces grab your attention for as little as $4K to $12K, allowing for budget creep and negotiating/local VAT removal (when applicable) for export sales.

Great mid-tier watches for the money. Most have significant depreciation rates so bargains on the pre-owned market are to be had everywhere for folks not quite ready to step into the upper tier of horology. That said, JLC manages to make some pretty awesome high-horology pieces that tend to get overlooked.

I agree with others to look at preowned. I personally like the Master Ultra Thin Moon for a dress watch and the Polaris for sport watch.

JLC makes some high-horology pieces that tend to get overlooked. Am not passionate about them anyway but i give them a go

I looked at them today at the AD, i am between getting the Reverso small seconds bkue turbion OR the classic white dial! Such a hard decision

had few JLCs, really enjoyed all of them. their service center, on the other hand, somewhat soured my enjoyment of the brand...on more than a few occasions, unfortunately.

the one piece that remains is the reverso grande ultra thin....absolutely love this classic in RG. as great as the other pieces were/are, my progressive move toward smaller-case pieces meant shedding the rest this collection. the EWC in particular is an awesome piece, and would recommend to anyone whose wrist is able to handle such a beast!

Very nice JLC collection. Is that a reverso on a rubber strap?

ya, that's the palermo LE, rubber case. comes with a kevlar material strap but i swapped with rubber to be more contiguous with the case.

JLC is known as the watchmaker's watch because they have developed more movements than any house and have made movements for other more famous makers in the past. They are highly respected by the industry and make great watches at very good prices. Their US service center, however, leaves much to be desired. With your budget, I'd recommend one of there Reversos, which is their signature line.

A great brand. Would love to own again but have a hard time deciding where it'd fit. Dress pieces are too delicate for daily wear and there are no sport models that I like. The only one I could think of is an 18K Reverso.

i can confirm 18k reverso works beautifully as casual, dress and everything in between!

Nice brand, love them in pictures, have bought two that didn't do it for me and were sold pretty quick.

I also had issues with the new Polaris date, it's supposed to be a 200m watch and I swam in it and water intruded.

They fixed it, but after that, it was gone.

Oh and one more thing, terrible resale value so make sure you buy at a huge discount or preowned.

In my opinion, in terms of build quality, history, and prestige, just below the top 5 top tier luxury watch brands Patek, AP, VC, Lange, and Breguet, and at the same level to Blancpain and Glashutte Original.

However, they do not hold their value well on the secondary market. Plus, my experience with their service center in the US has been terrible. I sent one mint condition and one brand new reverso for service and check up respectively. I won't go into the reasons why the brand new reverso was sent. When both of them came back, one complete service and one functional check, they were lot of scratches on the side and back of the case which were not there before. It was my word against the service center so I couldn't do anything. The watch which was serviced had dust particles on the dial which were clearly visible.

The service experience turned me off from the brand and I sold both watches. I have never bought a JLC again. I would love to have a reverso and ultra thin Perpetual Calendar in steel in my collection in the future, maybe when I start hearing good stories about their service experience.

Mixed experience dealing with JLC service last year. Everything came back in the condition it was given. But the service was not done on time (not even remotely close). They also ignored my request not to change the plexi crystal, when I stated in the store, and on the form, that I wanted to keep the original.

Reverso is good looking but as for the brand, I'd prefer a watch owners watch, not a watch maker's watch thank you.

Owned a master calendar meteorite for a while which was beautiful. Felt like a high end piece. Ended up consolidating with other pieces towards a Patek so no regrets but it was a great watch. Buy preowned and get 40% off if you are patient on some models!

Your question was not in response to my post but I can say that my service experience is current and ongoing, as they currently have my watch for the third time. I rejected it twice with different issues each time and it's back to them for the third time. They received my watch in excellent condition (nothing but swirls on the case that happen with gold) and it came back with a misaligned hand, blemished dial, and large scratches on the movement. I'm not holding my breath that it will come back correct, so it will probably go back yet again. This has really soured me on JLC. Great watches, terrible service center.

having read all these negative experience with the service center really make me think twice about the brand.

its kinda difficult to have a great ownership experience knowing the support behind the brand sucks.

I would love one of their dress watches. However, still helping our kids with college. They are now focused on graduate programs.....Ph.d......D.N.P.........money better spent there til they send some back my way.......that probably won't happen....so, I'll just enjoy the JLC pics.

I've got two a JLC Geophysic true second and a Sector dial MC chronograph. Would never buy these from an AD for retail given the soft secondary market. Got the TS used and the chronograph BNIB with a 25% discount from a trusted reseller on TRF.
They are superbly made and great value for the tech and Swiss-made provenance. There's a reason why JLC are called the watchmakers watchmaker.

My experience was positive with the US Service Center.
