Hey guys,

Many of you know I love beer and love running, so naturally I ran the 50km La Chouffe trail ultramarathon today!
Didn't get the 6hr time I was aiming for, at 28C it was just too hot so I finished at 7hr 13min which is reasonable I think

Got a nice La Chouffe running shirt and a buff. Medals were only rewarded for the beasts who ran 100km today, which I'm currently not yet ready for.

After I got some beer of course!!

Great job Bas! 50km is really impressive. I can run for maybe 1.5km before I have to be air lifted to the hospital.

There is no better thing in life than being in a forest IMO, the smell, the sounds, the peace.

Sure does, but you gotta enjoy every moment on the trail and forget about the finish line. Keeps you from being too focused on the long way you have ahead, and that in turn keeps the spirit up!

I have some friends from Milwaukee who love that beer and have the swag that they bring to the track. I even made them team decals.

Congrats!! Don’t worry about finish times. I’ve had a lot a good IM finishes and a lot of very bad finishes. You had fun, finished, AND got beer after. Sounds like a good day!

Was actually thinking about bringing my Rolex but glad I didn't, too many risks for it to get damaged.
The SKX013 on a rubber strap is super comfortable and obviously much more fun than any fitness tracker

Congratulations, Bas. That's an amazing physical feat and an even more impressive mental achievement. After running that far in mud, water, uneven surfaces and rocks, how do your feet look? Do you wear more than one pair of shoes during the run?

I imagine it was quite hot and humid. 7+ hrs of running is quite a lot. Stay in that good shape my friend! Nice that you wore that hard-core Seiko. I imagine a Rolex would have been as capable to do the job on the trail. If you had scratched it during the marathon it would have remind you of it, besides you are quite capable to fix it.

For these distances I only wear one pair of compression socks and one pair of shoes, one could have a dropbag placed at an aid station and switch shoes if desired, but I haven't needed that yet.
My feet are usually pretty banged up

Sure thing, and I do wear my Rolex while running, just not for something extreme like this, but it could definitely handle it.
