Thanks for that compliment - It's definitely been around in a year and hopefully more adventures this year - would never want Rolex to polish this!

I had a Mk1 that I liked, but never really bonded with, and sold...but tried on the Mk2 in December, was hooked, and bought it on the spot. Not quite the daily wearer but close. Here are some battle scars from 9 months of enjoying this guy. Great watch in 39mm in all forms. |

Love it! Great write up.
My 3 year old Mk1 does it all as well. I've bought (and sold) several other watches in the interim, but the Explorer is what I reach for probably 80-90% of the time. |

Explorer 214270 MK1 One Year Review...

Some scars you have there Mick If I'm not mistaken, I remember seeing your pics in another thread (am I right?) and have been wanting to ask you a question but I can't find that particular thread again. Anyway, my question is do you wear cufflinks? |

The Explorer 214270 MK1 is a beauty - Has more of an in-built vintage look/charm than the MK2. The dial, the white gold indices, the perfect size of the hands.
The hands on the MK2 were maxi sized like the lugs and the hands on the Explorer II. Nice, but lacks the vintage charm of the MK1. You chose wisely. |

To me, both MK1 and MK2 are beautiful watches. But in the end, I chose to go with MK1.
One can't go wrong with either. Both beautiful in their own right. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'll be picking up a Mk2 shortly and am so excited about it. I'm constantly on the forums or staring at photos online. I feel like I did as a kid when I'd obsess over things leading up to Christmas or some such...

I too have a Mk1 and this is a great tribute to it. Mine is never leaving my collection, even if I choose to add another piece. You've certainly put yours through some trials and tribulations, but I'll be honest in saying that I'm proud of the scratches on mine as well. In particular, the scratch on the bottom of my clasp is from the night my SO told me she loved me for the first time. Not many bigger moments than that!

My first closeup experience with a Rolex was with a Mk1 and I thought almost nothing of it; but once I dove into the reference a little further I fell in love. Looks fantastic on you..and as well used as my Daytona!
