How does one sell a watch to a grey dealer?

I might have to move a watch. Anyone know how payment works with selling to a grey. Like. Do they give u cash? Or what?

Also anyone know any good greys in nyc area?

I might have to move a DD40

Thx in advance

Basically just ship them the watch and they will wire you the $. If not you can always find one close to where you live and do it face to face.

I have traded up and down with "grey" dealers, but I imagine that selling outright to one is similar, in that they transfer via wire or PayPal. I have several as my go-tos for trades or sales, none in NY though. Have you looked at Crown and Calibre, DavidsW, Bobs, Delray, Watchbox? I suggest you look at the whos who section for other reputable resellers.

each grey is different. Contact them and they'll let you know the process.

If you don't want the stress or headache, then grey market is your best option. Otherwise, you'll need to deal with buyer who might try to scam you or you're dealing with insurance company if the watch is lost in transit.

Your choice..up to you... If you decide to sell it yourself, make sure the buyer is legit. Also, make sure you insure the watch since you're responsible for it. If a buyer pays, then he expects to receive the watch or money back.

Also, if you have no references at all, then don't expect to command $$ because no buyer is going to wire you thousands.

You contact them, agree on price and then ship it to them. Most will provide an insured label. They will wire you when the watch is received and inspected. Prepare to take a beating unfortunately.

I second this. Sell yourself and get the most you can for yours. Especially since the greys are charging ridiculous premiums already

Most will want to inspect the watch before they give you any cash. And you will be low balled, that is how they make money.

Hey guys so i walked into a grey on 47th and thry gave me a price and i brought everything to him the next day. I got cash on the spot. I kept the DD40, i really love that watch.

This will sound horrible but I moved the BLRO... i was starting to get bored of it. I had already sold my sub a while back to someone I know. And the price was $15700 cash for anyone that cares. I also moved an older rolex DJ from 2 decades ago.

I didnt plan on selling the BLRO but i unexpectedly bought a 5524G patek and so needed to offset some of the hit

It is easy, call a trussed seller on here, get beat up on price, take their low ball offer and sell it your self in the classifieds. Rolex’s are a lot easier to buy then sell.

Just be prepared to accept their low ball offer cause that's the way they make their money.

Well now, that calls for a wristshot, don’t you think?
