No brainer, I'll do it in an instant. PP above Rolex in quality / finishing. Esp a 5711 holds value, perhaps even better than any Rolex.

If you can get the 5711 at retail then no brainer for me. Do it!

Wow, this is pretty presumptuous. Money wasn't the reason I consolidated from 8 to 2 this past year. I've only got one left wrist and when I moved up in quality, I just knew that the others wouldn't get any wrist time. And while I could afford more, there is only so much money I want to put into watches.

Update: I did it and no regrets. 5711 is so great, well worth the loss of the Rolexes.

This comes down to your comfort level desires and wants. How much you want what your getting and if you think you would ever regret what your trading to do so.

Only you can answer that.

Congrats to the OP!

On this topic, consolidation is a very interesting - and tempting - idea. It's naturally easier to consider it the larger one's collection is. Once it gets below 10 or so, if you love all your pieces, it's tough to think about going down to 3 or 4.

That's just the thing. Once below a certain number (everyone's will be different, I suggested 10), one wouldn't be considered a "hoarder" anymore. If your collection is varied enough and within that margin, you may enjoy the different styles, colors and feelings each piece brings, which would make it difficult to sell them to consolidate further.

To use myself as an example, since I've toyed with the consolidation idea more than once, this is my current SOTC. I'm at 9, but don't feel there is much redundancy and I really enjoy them all. I could consolidate, but that begs the questions of which ones to let go and why.

Anyways, all the thought process is part of the fun, so I don't stress over it, as long as I keep enjoying them all.

It really does resemble what I like. If the struggle you refer to is related to wearing them all, I actually manage it, albeit some more than others.

PP finishing is surely better than rolex' but you need to bring a loupe to the party.
