What watch have you been unexpectedly impressed by?

I’ve recently been exploring the latest version of the VC Overseas and I have to say I’ve been extremely impressed by the quality of the movement, build quality overall, the gorgeous dials, design aesthetic and the versatility of the interchangeable straps. And it’s an incredible bargain compared to a 5711, Royal Oak, or the upcoming Odysseus. Plus, from a historical perspective it’s from a steadfast “holy trinity” name. What am I missing here?

So my question is, what watch (or brand) have you come across that you have been unexpectedly impressed by? Is there an underappreciated, undervalued watch that you think is incredibly deserving of more attention that the masses haven’t yet discovered?

So I know it’s a simple SEIKO....but this one has surprised me for what you get for the price, plus its doing 1.7s/Day......

Pretty much anything from Moser and the Bvlgari Octo Finissmo GMT Chronograph

Nice one! The Presage line has some beautiful dials. It reminds me of a dial I recently saw on this GS LE Spring Drive in a similarly impressive sunburst pattern. I kind of like how they put the PR indicator on the back of the movement instead of breaking up the clean sunburst pattern. Seiko & Grand Seiko definitely qualify as underappreciated for their quality and value.

For those who need good nighttime legibility and ruggedness - like some outdoors activities demand - I was impressed with Ball Watch Co.

The H3 gas tubes are a great plus. Also, the new Day-Date GMT is innovative.

Agreed. Moser and several other independents are deserving of more love from the masses.

I tried on several Octo Finissimo models at the Bulgari boutique a few months ago. Incredibly light on the wrist and the thinness was unbelievable! My only gripe was that the bracelet wears a bit wide for my taste (and my wrist).

I think maybe the nicest version of the Octo Finissimo dial is the new LE collaboration with Japanese Architect, Tadao Ando. His design is suppose to bring to mind the concentric circles in Japanese Zen gardens. Pretty cool.

I agree with your thoughts on the Overseas. I only caught on about it 6 mos. ago but now the gen 3s are really being noticed with wait lists to prove it. I was lucky enough with some help from a friend and good timing to find mine new with a discount 7 weeks ago on Christmas eve. I wound it 30 turns and set it to my phone app, it hasn't left my wrist since, wearing 24/7 except to shower. Checking with the time app today, 7 weeks later it's running at +3 sec. without touching the stem since I first put it on. The date also changes precisely and smoothly right at midnite. I'm really loving this one big time.
I'm feeling a little guilty for my other pieces sitting in the watch box as it seems I'm on an endless honeymoon right now. Here's some pics...

A Lange and Sohne Zeitwerke. Very cool with the outside date ring. It just grows on you.

Beautiful timepiece !
I am looking to add one in the future...
Simple Date in Black (as yours) or Blue; 1st choice !
Chrono in Blue/Black/Chocolate, I do not care as I have seen all and all are just gorgeous !

We will see

I’ve been totally floored and impressed by Oris big crown pointer date. Impressive value, automatic, glass back, quality leather strap, bronze case.
