opinion on 5270

hi everyone. i hope you are all safe.

it seems my next purchase will be the 5270 as i am looking for a chrono and most of the guys advised me on the 5270 rather than the rest of the chrono models.

i don't have any experience with he PP true chrono (i own 5990, 5712, 5711, 5524g, 5204R and 5230G) so i am wondering about which model you prefer as there are many options on the G, J and P.

let me know your opinion so that i have can make a more informed decision on the model i need to focus my search on.

thanks in advance.

Both the P and J are nice but the salmon is very special. Grail watches for me.

I'm partial to the blue WG, but they are all winners.

If I am in the market for a Patek PCC, I would look at the 5970 series before the 5270. I especially like the 5970g.

Salmon is wonderful, but sadly when i tried it on, it wrote a little too big on me. Gutted.

You mentioned you own the 5204. Isn't that a PC with a split second chrono?

Just got the 5270P for Christmas. Went shopping for a different PP but when I saw the P there was little to decide. Yes, it's impractical when one considers the price. I own several complications, a perpetual, a 5711 but next to this watch there is simply no comparison. Have fun with your decision.

of course buying a PCC (5270) is better than buying a chrono alone (5172). i believe the platinum with salmon dial is really one of the best colors patek have in thier current cataloug.
however, everytime i look at old patek PCC in auction books or website like (2499, 3970 ot 5970) i actully think that the yellow gold is the best metal. and in 2020 patek started producing the 5270 in yellow gold so i might choose that one over the platinum. because i believe it will age better (and perhaps it is less inital investment)

I got a RG one when they first came out...it's a beauty...my salmon came in and I turned it down...hated the color against the color of my skin...but some people love it.

I’m definitely in the minority by preferring the 5270J over the mighty Salmon. Somehow the “bare” yellow gold speaks to me. I’d even pick the 5270R over the Salmon too

The 5720P is awesome. If my wrists were just a touch bigger, it would be my grail.

I've got to say that the 5270 in the J really really works.
The colour scheme really suits the watch design - even more than the P and certainly more than the R.

How big is your wrist, please? I am nearly committed to the 5270p, however am not able to try one on. My wrist is somewhere between 6.75 and 7 inches.

Thank you

Thank you
I would really look to try it on. It's not a small watch for people with smaller wrists. One of my main hangups on the watch... But man is it beautiful.

My wrist is 6.5”

I tried one on and it was a touch too big. If your wrist is nearer 6.75 then it might be too big. If it’s nearer 7 then it’s likely on.

That said, i don’t know anyone else who worries about this as much as i do! So you may be fine regardless.

It will be ok, I have a 5.9-inch wrist and the 5270P has been a daily for me together with the 5740 :)

Nope , I could never buy any timepiece ( much as I like the 5270 p) from an Ad that I can’t get my money back if I want to sell later. Great way to lose 35 grand or more . Maybe from a grey would be ok - gorgeous timepiece! james in San Antonio Tx:-))

Tried this at an AD.
My wrist is 6”. It’s a gorgeous watch but it would be nice to have a direct comparison with the J

My wrist is 6.75-7 inches (depending on the season). Wears super well and comfortable.

Beautiful watch. No doubt.
I love 5270/1R as well.

But of both, 5270P holds value much better (if it matters to you).
