F1 & Superbike qualifying - I’m in heaven.

Post up your favourites for the FI and Superbikes.

I fancy Hamilton for F1 Melbourne and Bautista for Thailand Supers.

Go Ducati.

Good to see Tom jump from 17th to 6th on the last qualifying lap.

Go Ducati.
Beginning of racing season. Glorious time to behold. But it's also the time of year when Mrs Yoda has her eyes perpetually in the roll position.

Hamilton looks to have the edge, yet again, unfortunately but they spent $1/2 billion on his car last year, so what does that say.....

Ricciardo has $49 million in his bank account so the fact that changed teams makes sense, but qualifying 12th means he is overpaid...unless Renault are paying for Ricciardo's smile on TV commercials.

Its interesting that since 2010 and driving for Renault Hulkenberg has never been out-qualified by a teammate, and that holds true with this first qualifying of 2019 as Ricciardo finished below Hulkenberg (who is getting paid 1/10 of Ricciardo's annual salary).

Should be an interesting race in a couple of hours.

Yep, Hamilton's good but the Mercedes is spectacular.
The 'Hulk' is no mug and capable of better in a better car.
Dan will need to justify his salary from here on in.
Couldn't believe that there was a bump on the side of the track big enough to take Dan's front wing off. Street Circuits!

I missed all of it this weekend. There was a Daytona200 motorcycle race (I started a thread) and it was an incredible race to watch, and it's the people I know.

Usually have to catch up on wsbk and motogp well after the races have happened.

I do read the spoilers lol

That's pretty interesting with regards to Riccardo. I recently started watching Formula 1: Drive to Survive on Netflix and the first episode featured him. I'm assuming it was shot last season, of course.

Something clearly failed there, that shouldn't have happened. He was off track but didn't seem to be enough impact there to have done that.

One of my mates on another forum walked the track after the race to see what it was. He said it was just what it looked like on the broadcast. There was a concrete path about a metre wide with a considerable "hump" of dirt and grass on either side - just like on footpaths. He said the "hump" was about 10cms high which is plenty high enough to take the front wing right off.

A stuff-up on the part of the organisers (track safety inspectors) who should have noted that and had it removed prior to the race.

It’s a street track and he hit a drain.

If he had spent more time studying the track instead of attending to the forced PR meetings and smile at the camera events etc. he may have missed the drain.

In any event it didn’t look like he was forced wide it just looked like he stuffed up.

To be fair he would never have featured in the race unless it snowed.

Good luck to him for the rest of the season, he will need it.
