Value ascribed to Rolex service / guarantee
Am looking to purchase a 2014 SD4K 116600 and the original watches are now outside the warranty or with minimal left.
Have come across one that has just been serviced and therefore has a full 2 year service warranty from Rolex. Presumably it has also been “appropriately” polished rather than given to an untrained (ie non-Rolex) technician. Am trying to ascertain the value that this would add to the watch compared to others that have not been serviced / polished by a random person. Do RSCs (particularly those in UK) do a “better” job of polishing compared to a non-RSC polished? What additional value could be expected for the 2 yr warranty. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Having just completed a fairly intensive hunt... It seems that a fresh service (ie practically unworn since service) adds ~500-1000$ to the value of the watch, depending on age. A 2014 barely needs a service so it might have gone in for warranty work. Maybe $500 in value for that (unless it didn't cost the original owner anything). A watch from '95 that is fresh back from service with a warranty? Closer to a thousand in value. At least what I've seen. Basically the cost of the service that you might not have to do and the peace of mind of a real Rolex warrenty
Probably more important in a private sale then from a dealer, most of whom offer a 1 year warranty. |

Market value is market value.
Any provable service or warranty is a negotiable accessory, but it certainly would not add more value than the cost of the service itself, and likely less.

Am also wondering what reason there would have been to get the watch serviced after only 4-5 years.. shouldn’t they only need servicing after around 7-10?
