First Rolex search / compare

On the hunt for my first Rolex and I have officially caught the bug.

I’m in love with the submariner and looks like the only way I’m getting one in my part of town is a small deposit and waiting. I have no issues with this as long as they pull through.

Before committing to an AD, I tried on both the other day (10th time with the sub on, ha) and the DJ41 black dial with the oyster really took a bit of my heart. Just reminds me of the sporty yet flashy look.

Hard to decide now?!?!

Which do you prefer? The sub will be SS black and not 2 tone. It’s all they had to try on.

Thanks everyone!

That DJ looks helluva sexy - sexier than the 2-tone sub, IMO.

But if you're opting for the SS Sub, then yeah, no contest - SUB all the way for me.

I’d wait for the Sub, then add that DJ down the line.

I like the DJ too - The Yachtmaster in the case is also nice.

Amazing the amount of TT DJs in that case.

Don't buy a watch just because it is a Rolex. Buy the watch you are 100% sure you want. If you are not sure, then buyer's remorse is likely to hit the moment you walk out the dealer's door.

Personally I love the TT sub. That being said, if the DJ41 took your heart, you have your answer! Best part is there's no bad choice.

Good luck and post what you decide!

There are a lot of quality Sub "like" watches to buy while you wait (check out Certina DS). Not so much for DJ41 - so that is my choice.

IMHO either one would be a great watch. Buy the one you like the best. Gold is making a comeback as this stainless steel sports watch bubble subsides. That two-tone Sub looks great with either the black or blue dial. Personally, I like a fluted bezel DateJust with the Jubilee bracelet over the Oyster bracelet.

Decide which one you want to buy first! (don't kid yourself, you will own more than one, I promise.)

Are you finding the two tone Sub attractive and in line with your personality? If so, and if you like it, go for it. I had a TT sub with blue dial as my one and only watch for 9+ years, fantastic watch.

DJ41 is a fantastic everyday watch as well, lighter and thinner than sub, and fluted bezel provide a beautiful sparkle that makes it a jewel like timepiece.

You can't go wrong with either one as your first Rolex.

I just really feel like the Sub is more me. It will be stainless black not two tone. Seems more versatile.

Don’t get me wrong, the DJ is great but the only thing is the “flash” of it and bling that keeps me still on the Sub. If that makes sense.

Both stunning I know.

Decisions decisions.

If the Sub calls you, go with the Sub.

If you get the DJ, you're going to want that Sub someday.

I actually really like the DJ you're wearing and thought about it for myself. I thought, I'm almost 50, will the DJ be better on an older guy as I age, is it "dressier", etc.

Well, it was the Sub that called me. I saw an older guy with a Sub (like 70's) and he was wearing it just fine.

So I went with the one I really wanted, not the one I'd settle with.

Still might get a DJ someday (like when I pass the Sub onto my son). But if you want the Sub, if you prefer the Sub, don't settle for the DJ just because it's a Rolex.

I was worried whether the Sub goes well with a suit as I wear a suit everyday. It does, it goes just fine.

Without seeing pics I would of said the sub , but that DJ looks great on you . Perhaps a better comparison is to compare the black DJ with a stainless sub.

Understand the Submariner you were trying on was the Two Tone and you prefer the SS and will put down deposit and wait.

Personally, I prefer the Submariner over the DJ, my opinion only of course, so put the deposit down and wait for the Sub.

Not that there's anything wrong with the TT Submariner, but then I'm biased....

IMO the Datejust will always be around, the Sub is harder to find so I would say to go with that.

This is it. End of story.

Do NOT buy any of the above pictured watches. Hold on and find the sub you want.

2 tones are awful looking; avoid.
