Simply...The Wine Thread
I'm a bit biased. Just picked up the labels and will be bottling next month. It's been on French oak for 18 months. It has an amazing nose, inky black color and a surprisingly soft finish.
I also just finished up a port comprised of 5 Portuguese varietals and some left over Zinfandel for fruitiness. I'm currently cold settling it and will be putting it on oak shortly for the next 12-16 months. I also have a Petite Sirah finishing up Malolactic right now which will also be going into oak soon.

Way different! Respectfully, the recent vintages have been koolaid with ridiculous RS. It's a manufactured wine these days, but the American palate loves sugar so more power to em. I'm a little inebriated, so I should probably get off my soap box ;)

Had a 12 Oakville Ranch Cab Franc and a 12 Turley Pesenti tonight. Both good, but the Cab Franc needed a few more years in bottle.
Sorry for my drunk ranting last night - I'm paying for it today! |

Gents, with regards to French whites and their ageability, I'd suggest you research "premox", which is short for premature oxidation. Major issue that affects a noticeable number of vintages, unfortunately.

"Blandy's Madeira"
Product of the Island of Madeira, Portugal. I have been a keen aficionado of fortified wines all my life. Australia makes some wonderful fortifieds but for a change I am drinking this one from Portugal, courtesy of my good mate Gary. Best with great crumbly cheeses, but tonight just a glass on its own.

^^^ Nice! Please report back with your tasting notes. Wondering if these have hit their prime drinking window yet.

The '03 Margaux is spectacular.
On the nose you get coffee bean, black licorice with a little spice. Great structure from start to finish - this wine is seamless -- with a great finish. Ready to drink now - or 10 years from now. Honestly a personal choice!! This Margaux will (should be) be up there comparable to some of the great vintages!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks for the note! I tend to like my BDX on the aged end of the spectrum, especially in good vintages. I'll let my '03 Margaux rest awhile longer before uncorking one. Maybe 2020.....

Absolutely!!! And I tend to be the same way with the Bordeauxs myself -- there's almost no wine better than an old Bordeaux!! Lately I've found that late 80s vintages (85-86 specifically) have been phenomenal!! Cheers!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Simply...The Wine Thread
Had a Christmas Party with some great friends last night. Here is what we had. The Sandrone Barolo and the Oreno were amazing as were the champagnes we chose.
The Peter Michael Pinot Noir is going to be amazing but it still needs about 5 years of aging. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mine came in a couple weeks ago :) I notice we're on a lot of the same lists...that's Fairchild Stones #2 underneath.
I asked a bunch of friends and coworkers, but nobody can place the black and white bottles...what winery is it? |

Agree with both of you, I think the 12 MD is way way better than the 10 MD IMHO, even though they both scored 100.
