Does anyone use a chronograph?
I was trying on an Aqua Terra chronograph GMT and I think it's one of the nicest looking watches out there. If they could add the GMT to the "plain old" Aqua Terra it would have been mine.
It got me thinking if anyone really actually uses the chronograph, or is it "just one of those things" that's cool to have? |

Chronograph does come in handy when you need to time anything. I often use it for meter parking... here in Chicago the parking police are always out to get you...

All the time. A very handy feature.

Any timing I've had to do has been easy enough with the bezel on a diver. I like chrono's but am not a fan of the 7750 movement a lot of them are based off of. That being said, I do agree that the AT Chrono GMT is an incredibly nice looking watch. |

I kept catching myself staring at the hour markers and "flashing" the watch. It was like one of those 3D paintings and I was mesmerized.

If you have it, you will use it.
Walks. Parking meeters. BBQs. Documenting the time you have expended waiting on your wife, while she mills around shops of no consequence. You will find lots of ways to use it. |

I use it to time a lot of trivial things.

I noticed the same thing. I got by just fine without a chronograph before I had one, and could get by just fine again without one. But having one, I find all kinds of minor, trivial uses for it, and occasionally find it more useful than that. Most needs I have for marking elapsed time are taken care of by a diver's bezel, although even that isn't an absolute necessity for me.

I find my Speedmaster Pro is really handy as a timer when cooking, particularly when doing something that takes a long time like a turkey or roast.

My only concern using it that way would be that I'd have to remember to check the time. A kitchen timer remembers for me.

It was fun while I had the eyesight, but altogether unnecessary in my personal applications. |

All the time, both bezel and chronograph- cooking, parking, brewing tea, laundry, driving.
I also use it to remember things. If I need to remember something important, and can´t write it down, it just starts the chronograph, and stops it after a few seconds. (or turn the bezel random) When I look at the watch, Í am reminded of the thing I need to remember. |

I use it when I fly. It's part of my checklist. It's always useful to know when my plane will run out of gas.

I use mine on occasion when speaking publicly.
In practice however, most of my timing needs boil down to grill duty, where I prefer a bezel. |
