Actually, Vincent, the main reason the DRSD is in the safe is to keep it in good shape to pass on to my oldest son. And, I did wear the hell out of it in the military. I really got my $564 (purchase price) out of it. Plus it doesn't glow and you know how much I hate that. I'd wake up in the middle of the night one time too many to a dark watch...... Then off for a Luminova replacement! Which would probably get me "Banned User" status on the Vintage Forum.

Lots of great insightful comments. The whole "safe queen" thing is crazy for me...what's the use? If you can't wear it, admire the heck out of it, show it off (educating future collectors in the process" and use it as a great conversation piece...why bother? I am actively trimming my diverse collection down to no more than 8 watches so they all get at least 3-4 days a month wrist time...they deserve that and if I can't give it to them I should sell to someone who will appreciate them more and get them worn and exposed to the world. Great pieces ( and I have a bunch of diverse brand "grains") deserve better than the coffin environment of a safe IMHO.

I don't really have one true grail; I may have a preference for one model of watch over another, but I don't have that "one piece that I am focused on attaining." That said, I am extremely content with my current stable of two. There are always better/rarer/nicer watches out there, but as one poster above pointed out, focusing on what you have will give you a lot more enjoyment than focusing on what you don't have, IMO.
Just one other thought - I feel like it is easier to define a "grail" when speaking about modern timepieces, because condition does not really come into play, as most modern pieces can be purchased BNIB. In the vintage world, even if you acquire your "grail model", there may always be one out there in better condition that would have made a more suitable "grail".
