Security cameras what’s good

Hey Everone!!! With spring here and the weather getting nicer it’s time to upgrade the camera system I’m looking for some feed back on good brands go with or custom systems to look to.

I do all my own networking so setting up and running cat6 is no biggie. I’m thinking maybe lts nvr with Lorex or Annke ip cameras looking for some static and ptz ideas 16 in total with remote access.

I use UniFi/Ubiquiti. Maybe not the best these days but I’m bought in to the ecosystem now with PoE networking, wireless, etc.

I’ve got cameras that are 10 years old along with much newer stuff. They seem decent at keeping old cameras supported. I use PoE cameras since WiFi is easily jammable. Since I’m using PoE my UPS keeps cameras on and recording during power outages for some time.

It is on premises recording with ability to reach remotely and no monthly fees (unless you want cellular backup).

I have the Wyze system. They are inexpensive, have a reasonable amount of features, and a pretty decent app. I wouldn't call them great, but they do everything I want them to just fine.

I've tried Lorex and Swann systems. I definitely wouldn't recommend either based on my experience. Terrible customer service with Lorex, app interface is less than desirable for both, and we always had problems getting some or all of the cameras to connect, more issues with Swann than Lorex in this category.

We have removed all the wired cameras and switched them to Wyze brand wi-fi cameras. I really love the Wyze brand, currently running about 18 cameras on one app between my house, mother's house, and store. The app is super easy to use and their other products work exceptionally well and use the same app. I switched my $250 wi-fi irrigation controller to the Wyze $60 controller and it works flawlessly. The other plus with Wyze is they are currently offering unlimited cloud storage for $8 a month for all the cameras on your system! That's hard to beat.

Is Wyze perfect, absolutely not. Every now and again we have an issue connecting to a camera, but nothing like Lorex. More importantly, the customer service is always there. I tried for about two weeks to get consistent service from a floodlight camera and Wyze just gave me a store credit to but another one. My biggest complaint with Wyze cameras is the need to access the camera directly to press "reset" if you need to change wi-fi access or there is a problem requiring a hard reset; this isn't a huge deal, unless it's a floodlight camera, that is a pain in the butt.

I’ve tried lots of systems over the past 25 years. Blink from Amazon is great. Completely modular, Wi-Fi based and easy to setup. I can check one of 6 live cameras at different businesses from my phone anytime, motion alerts if someone is around after hours while the cameras record away and send the videos to the cloud for like 100$ a year. You just buy however many cameras you want. Recharge them every year. M2c

Guys ... you're going about it all wrong.

We did away with cameras, security systems, safes for our watches, etc etc.

Get yourself a trained attack canine, all your worries will go away

I have the same actually. They work pretty well for me and are generally pretty cheap and easy to use through the app.

As much as I try to avoid Google product, we really like their camera products. Totally reliable all 4 seasons, great app interface.

Wow that’s troubling I was figuring that they were better then the “Amazon” brands. I’ve had wyze cameras before but had an issues with network security and someone gaining access to my home server through the wyze app and my remote connection.

Check out their youtube page... Nelly's.

they are constantly updating and doing instructional videos. They have cameras that deliver 1080p full color video, at night.

I have a wired 16 camera swann setup. It’s later a few years including brutal snow storms. It’s never missed a beat and provides hd with night vision, sound, etc.

We aren't positive, but believe we had a camera possibly hacked once. We changed associated passwords and Wyze cam out with two factor authentication, no problems since.

It looks like Google Nest support is being discontinued in April this year.

it's hard to do better than a mean sounding bark, and your perfectly harmless pampered dog might surprise you with their courage and ferocity in that kind of situation. I've had several dogs that I have no doubt would have torn an intruder up. My 20-year old chihuahua probably can't hear an intruder any more but if he could he'd be 5 pounds & 3 teeth of whoop-ass

We’re happy with Blink. It’s wireless, easy to set up and use. We’ve had it since it came out.

We have dogs that bark, too. But after taking one look at them, you just know you have nothing to worry about.
