Longines vs. Chopard

Longines Men's L47544724 'Heritage Column Wheel' Chronograph Automatic Black Leather Watch

or

Chopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique

I like both of these watches, and really am no watch expert. I do not know much about either brand, but know they are probably a second or third tier brand, not one of the big three or four. I am trying to research the movements, but love the look of both of these watches. Any advice one way or the other. I have seen both for about $2800, give or take.

Ask yourself if you Couldn't have one of these, which would you miss most?

Sometimes that helps!

I definitely consider Chopard higher end than Longines.
They are typically dress watches and not sport watches.

Most of the Chopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique, that i found doing a quick search were about $2,000 more than the Longines.

Longines definitely has more reputation in chronograph movements on the other hand.

Chopard has a range, the LUC line is top tier.

In fact, at every point where an LUC matches up with a Patek, watch to watch, the Chopard is superior and this includes minute repeaters. You may or may not like the look, you may wish for more hype, but in terms of finishing, movement, and quality, an LUC Chopard eats Pateks all day.

I have a special place in my heart for Longines. Huge fan of the brand's history so it gets my vote.

I own a Chopard LUC GMT Cadence. From the ones I’ve handled, Chopard is well above Longines.

How big of a falloff in quality from the Chopard LUC watches to the rest of Chopard's watches?
