Hi, thanks for reply
The watch dial is a Explorer super precision, to my understanding that's supposed to be a 1530. So this isn't the original movement?

Actually it could be a 1530 so please don’t take my 1560 as absolutely correct.

Is it just the photo that makes it look like it’s a gold coloured movement?

It's gold colored. It's confusing because it's supposed to be a 5500 model Explorer, which is rare so I'm trying to authenticate if it's all original. So it's supposed to be 1530 but it looks different and not marked.
Again thanks.

Most likely someone removed the top finish down to the brass. Probably to either refinish it because it looks like the oscillating weight dug into the movement at some point, probably why it is missing. The whole weight and reverser gear train is missing. That movement is a mess and unless the watch is heavily discounted then it isnt worth taking on the project.

Thanks for the reply Do you think it's the original 1530 movement?

Hard to know without seeing it out of the watch with the dial removed and seeing whats stamped on the back of the main plate.

Thanks for your help. It's an old 5500 Explorer, fairly rare. I can bring it back at a reasonable price so I'll chance it. Thanks.
