Is this watch too big?
I currently wear a 40 inch sub and I have small wrists, not sure of the exact measurements but definitely close to 6 inches. Ive tried on this large model Santos at 3 different AD's and all have said they like the fit, but its hard to tell if they're being honest or they just want me to buy the more expensive watch. I am also looking at the stainless steel model, which is the same size. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am interested in the medium as well. Its about 35.1 in diameter compared to 36 on the date just, which I love the fit of. Does anyone on both have any insight into how they compare fit wise? Does the Cartier Santos medium feel any smaller than a 36mm date just? |

go for the medium santos, it has better proportions and no silly tiny 6 oclock date.

Try it on your wrist. The only test. My wrist, Internet pictures, nothing else matters. You may want to bring a wife, girlfriend or buddy for impartial advice. Some dealers will sell you anything.
Also, it’s hard to compare a round watch to a square or rectangular watch. |

Way too big IMHO. Some SA will say anything just to close a deal.

Personally I would go against the grain and say that I like the fit. But that's just me

I have 6.5 inch wrists and I am on the tightest setting on that strap and it’s still tad too loose for me. If your wrists are indeed that size then that watch shouldn’t even be comfortable on you.
They don’t make that ALDC Santos in the medium size FYI. |

I think its too big. With that said, the older I get the more I realize that no one, other than you, gives a damn about what size your watch is. If you enjoy it, wear it!

Here’s my Santos Medium on my 6” wrist. Cameras can be deceiving but I can tell you the Medium wears amazing on a smaller wrist like mine. I tried the Large too - and it was great - but maybe more for someone who likes to wear Subs and GMTs.

In this age of larger watches, I think the watch (as shown in the photo) looks just as acceptable on your wrist as when I see Rolex Exp 39mm or DJ41 on others' wrists. Lugs are not overhanging sides of your wrists, so it looks manageable.
That being said, I generally lean toward more classic proportions, especially on classy watches like Cartier. A medium size would give you that look. It all boils down to the look you're going for. Modern or classic. Best wishes |
