Rolex price increase, new models, etc., etc.

I have a patient that has worked in the watch department at a large Rolex AD for over 25 years. He was in my office today and told me that the Rolex rep was in his store this week.

Well, here's HIS take on all the Rolex "rumors". Despite his 25 years in the business and his recent discussion with the Rolex rep, he is unaware of ANY official price increase, and is unaware of any proposed changes, new models, etc., etc.

He said that all he was told by the Rolex rep was that NO ONE knows what will happen until Basel other than those involved with the design of the new watches. The Rolex rep was unaware of any price increase, though an increase is always a possibility on the horizon. The Rolex rep did "believe" and "guess" that the Sub would have some changes such as the ceramic bezel/improved clasp, but he was quick to point out that it was only his speculation, based on last year's changes to the GMT.

He did say that the only information Rolex told him was that they were making a gradual "10 year" change among the entire line.

So, hopefully this will debunk some of the rumors, at least for a few hours.

My friend's sister's boyfriend's cousin's dog's previous owner's housekeeper knew a guy who worked on cars for this other guy that was related to someone who went into an AD and was told that Rolex is going to change the line completely by modeling their watches after the flourescent Swatch watches from the eighties and prices will start at 100K and above.

Seriously, why is one person's AD or rep more reliable than another's? I wouldn't go crazy and buy up every watch they have, but I would grab 1 or 2 that I know I have to have in the near future, anyway, and wait and see. Especially if the AD has a return policy.

I guess you're AD was right about one thing. Only time will tell what news Rolex will introduce at the Basel Fair. Rolex would be unwise to reveil any updates to its models before time since you can never count on people keeping the secret.

As stated, the price increase is reality in a few days.

Hey! What about Doctor / Patient confidentiality?

Just having a bit of fun.

I hope he's right.
Truth is I'd rather they left the sport watches alone and upgrade the dress watches instead.

I hear they are going to do a "Mini Sub" for "little people" and well heeled middle schoolers. It will have a mini dial, mini oyster bracelet, and have a light blue tint to the crystal. It will be introduced at Basel.

First LMAO.

Second: I agree bought 5 in 24hrs. Same thing. One Ad has a 90day return policy. The other 30 days. Can't hurt as long as you have the room on a CC!

Saw my AD last night:

1. Price increase across the board, from 10% on up.
2. No special SD this year but all models will be updated by 2011.
3. I asked about milgauss and she laughed out loud, it is the new holy grail.
4. They only had one GMTIIc since it came out.
5. They are receiving NO MORE WATCHES until the price increase.
6. Finance plan is 20 months same as cash....why do they do this to me....
