Either on my wrist or on the dresser. I don't have enough pieces (or those of enough value) to need a safe or box at the bank.

Plus, I live on a high floor of a secured building.

For those of you who have safes, how large and are they all bolted to the floor? Where would you recommend I start if looking for one? Thanks

Still doing research but I am intrigued by a California company that makes Watch Safes with integrated winders. Large, heavy, and able to be bolted into concrete slab foundations. I think it is highly customizable with the number of winders. If I proceed, I will order it sometime next week.

On my dresser, in a little glass-top box so they don't get dusty.

I don't understand the safe thing - I get the base reasoning, but as a practical matter, it feels overkill to me in 95% of Rolex owner's residential circumstances. Save the money on a safe and just insure the watches.

I sometimes wonder if maybe people just like the feeling that comes with having things "in a safe"?

I was going to make a joke and say One on my wrist, and the others .. one paw each of Diesels' and one paw each for Max (my dobermans) But in reality, they stay locked in a safe within a certain room within a certain house I own .. Within a certain state.

Buy a 18956 bril or a 18948 tridor, and you'll understand why a safe is important .... Even in Manalapan Beach

Because it's "expensive"? A relative term, really. I operate on the assumption that everyone with a fancy watch can afford to lose it; certainly upsetting, but it shouldn't bring about a change of life circumstances. Like so many things then, it's just about how much can you afford to lose. You could probably afford to lose yours; I could afford to lose mine; I could not afford to lose yours. If I had yours, I'd keep it in a safe because I couldn't afford the loss (or, actually sell it). But that's really the only time.

Are you the watches you mention uninsurable at what you feel is a realistic replacement value? Or otherwise unobtainable if you did have to get another one?

I'm still not getting the need for a safe.

Yes, I could afford to lose them if we look at it like that .. It would be painful, but yes

For me, and I can only answer for myself. it is about piece of mind. The chances of someone actually getting inside my house are very slim, and I even joke with my friends by saing that anyone who can actually get inside, deserves to walk out with anything they like .. Because it would be hard work to make it inside without getting attention.

Speaking for myself, my things are my things. I would rather have my own possessions than have them replaced with new ones.

ha. That made me laugh.

I appreciate the answer - personal peace of mind. What gets each of us to that point likely differs from person to person.
