5513 vs 14060

Hi All - am seeking vintage experts and owners' feedback here!

I'm considering seeking out a "vintage" submariner with a tritium dial and I am torn between a 5513 and an early 14060.

I have a new sub date, so feel the 5513 would be all that more different comparatively.

Does the community have any strong thoughts or considerations I should be thinking about?

PS - it appears that finding a good 14060 example is easier than a good 5513....

I have a modern sub and a 5513. I wear the 5513 a ton and I think the charm of the acrylic crystal is unmatched.

Two completely different eras, one vintage and the other not.

The 14060 gives you modern features, sapphire, 3xxx movement, and the unmistakable look of a Sub.

The 5513 also has the same look but an earlier generation movement and plexi, plus hard to find parts.

I currently own both examples, a 14060 and a 1972 Submariner 5513 and a glossy dial 5513 from the lat 1980s.

It's a buyer's choice, but you can't go wrong with a vintage 5513. Below are some 5513 photos, both the glossy and matte versions along with the 14060 model depicted in the last photo.

I’m going to go against the grain and say a tritium 14060 with nicely patina’d markers is best, especially for daily wear. I have and still do wear 60’s/70’s watches frequently and for a number of years a 60’s 321 Speedmaster was my daily driver, but I love the 90’s 5 digit models as they’re better at standing up to daily wear (especially with young children) and still retain the classic look.
