I think I'm getting trolled.... members beware!

I received an email from TRF this morning that I had a PM and I (foolishly) responded to the sender emailing them at the email provided. Later when I went to my in box there was no message.... here is the body of what was sent. I will PM a moderator about my belief that the account it came from has been hacked.

Beau, I received the exact email from the same person but nothing in my RF inbox.
Looks like someone's username may have been hijacked!

Don’t reply via emails.

Keep communications on the forum.

If someone can’t log in and use the forum DM tools, they’re not looking to make a deal.

A classic scam to get you on emails is not knowing how to post an image in Messages. If you can’t do that, how can you facilitate a deal worth thousands or even be online and alive today?

Be fraud aware, people.

Ya, you likely went back and forth with a troll doing recon on your sale ads and then they got your email when they asked you to send a certain image or whatever. And your phone number (already in your ads) also is important. And then they pose as someone else with your contact info gathered from recon.

It’s surely a scam

It’s normally a kind of scam where they will try to get your info. Do not click on any link, just open your Rolex account on the forum to respond. You are safer that way.

Hope no one gets hacked!

same thing here. the item he referred to was not my item, so i suspected a scam.
when i went to dm to contact/alert maverick it said that his pms were blocked etc., another red flag.
and, yes, thats interesting that when they’re banned they are completely scrubbed from the system including inboxes.

Same here. Exact same message on my Gallet Excel-o-Graph I have for sale. Same user name, Maverick and same email.

As others have said ...... NEVER reply to a request to correspond by email right off the bat. Never click on a link in an email from someone you don’t know. ALWAYS correspond through the forum message system

If it's on email but not PMs then isn't it a case that likely the recipients account is compromised, not the sender? If nothing was sent from the "maverick" account via TRF then is this a sophisticated way of the standard PM scam?

I.e. scammers have the recipients real email address from TRF, sends a spoof email pretending to be a TRF member from a standard email spoofer, and hopes they reply via email rather than logging in and checking PMs?

I'm not sure if the original account is compromised or the scammers have just taken that name to make it look legit? Just thinking out loud.

I got the same PM last week and the same email today. The guy has got a website set up to look just like TRF. The link you click on (DON'T LOG IN) takes you to what looks like TRF but it's actually www.forulms.com. You log in thinking you're on TRF and he's captured your log in credentials.

Link removed

How do I get law enforcement involved?

I felt like it was a Claymore for anyone who thought there was something to see and then stepped onto the mine field.
