Buying 1st Rolex from Grey Market - Real or Fake
Hey everyone I’m a first time Rolex purchaser and I’ve reached out to someone in the grey market that has about 15 good reviews (none negative) in the past year and they presented me with this piece.
Does everything here seem alright or is there any red flags that I’m not noticing? |

Get some close ups of the clasp and case reference. A movement shot would also help.

This is supposed to be a Y serial and it is to come with papers. These are the photos from their source guy and he is to have the watch in hand in a few days time.

Anyone that doesn’t have the watch in their possession at the time of listing scares the bejeezus out of me.
Take that fwiw. Positive reviews or not, it sounds sketchyAF. Many things can go sideways |

Why not go with a trusted seller here or an AD for a first watch.

Impossible to authenticate those photos
Typical poor angled photos to hide fake issues

Always buy the seller if you are delving into the used market, and ensure that any reviews are genuine. Pictures look fine, but they are just pictures.

Nice watch. Notice the worn bezel markings. Easy fix.

For the life of me I can't understand why someone selling a genuine good - whether it be a $100 pair of Nikes or a $5,000 watch would have such inferior pictures.. other than hiding the obvious as Gladiator mentioned.
