Got my 321!
The steel caliber 321 Speedmaster was announced on January 7, 2020. That very morning, I contacted the nearest (East Coast) Omega boutique and expressed my interest. The sales associate took down my details and told me that corporate had to approve before she could take a deposit from me. I had history with Omega only from buying a 60th Anniversary Speedmaster a few years earlier at a boutique on the other coast. A few hours later, the sales associate called me saying OK to the deposit.
Then I waited. Once things opened back up from lockdown, I checked back every couple of months that first year. In 2021, it was once a quarter. In 2022, I only called twice, and almost lost hope that I would ever get the watch. I was very close to buying grey. In January this year, I called on the third anniversary of the watch’s launch. My original sales associate had moved on, and I talked to the boutique manager. He told me I was next on the list. On April 28, I got the call. My steel 321 had arrived! The boutique shipped the watch to me overnight. It joins six other Speedmasters in my collection, including two vintage 321 pieces. Finally on my wrist: |

Massive congrats! I’m only one year in from putting down my deposit so I know I won’t be seeing it soon but I’m obsessed with this watch and love seeing them getting out.

That's great that you finally got a new 321. Congratulations, you seem to have a great collection of Speedys. Would it be daring to ask for a photo with all the pieces?

Congratulations! I haven't been waiting as long as you (about 2.5 years), but I'm anxiously awaiting mine.

The other Speedmasters are in my bank’s safety deposit box. Here’s my vintage Ed White from 1964. Can add more photos later.

Great story and post. I really need to get my hands on one of these in person. The Speedmaster was a watch I bought on a whim only because other people talked about how great it was. My first was an 1861 Hesalite model. A year or two ago I upgraded to the 3861 sapphire version. It's now the watch I wear more than any other.
I totally understand when I see people who own multiple Speedmasters. I really need to see the 321 in the flesh. Everyone says the finishing is on a whole different level. |
