Incoming PAM 514

Several years ago I liquidated my PAM collection. I’ve been left with just my 512 since and have mainly focused on Rolexes. My interest in Panerai has recently come back. Now I’m picking up a 514 in the next couple of days. I know it’s a big watch but I think it will be a good fit for my collection / rotation. Are there any members that wear a 514 or another 47mm Panerai daily?

The 1940 47mm has a relatively slim profile given the size, though I’m not specifically aware of 514 thickness due to the date function? I wear often my 368 (1950 with dome sapphire) and the 932 (1940 with dome sapphire) to work but that is with OEM crocs to keep it under my (unaltered) sleeve cuff. If I put ammos on them; than they seem to bulky for my every day wear (long sleeve shirt)... weekends I tend to wear my 47s with thicker straps.

Nice! You'll have a nice 1940 Radiomir duo....Then you can move on to Luminors, Radiomirs and Submersibles. :-)

47mm as a daily isn't a problem at all (for me at least). The difference between 44 and 47 really isn't that much, but you'll probably feel it coming from 42mm.

The 26mm strap width sounds worse than it is too, but the proportions are correct and that's all that matters. I agree that strap choice can really affect how bulky a watch feels, I'm a real fan of the assolutamente straps, they just seem to work with every Panerai you screw them on to.

I wear mainly 339,368,372 and 375 daily on my 6.75 inch wrist and have no problem whatsoever, but I rarely wear long sleeve shirt or jacket

I’ve been travelling in Europe for 40+ days and been wearing 368 on oem rubber almost exclusively...often hidden under the sleeve of my gore-tex jacket...

My mom is currently wearing the 339

My first was a 351. Second was my 112. Then I bought a 233 and was IN LOVE!! I picked up a 512 not long later. I’ve learned that the manual wind pieces fit my wrist best. I sold my 112 to a good friend. The 351 was just TOO thick for my taste. The only reason I let the 233 go was because the movement was starting to act up causing me to lose confidence.

The 1940 case seems like a combo case and really appeals to me.

The 514 was substantially larger than the 512. I had a 514 for a couple of years and ultimately sold it because I just do t resonate with the 1840 cases. With that said, because it’s a manual wind, it sits flat on the wrist and the long silver hands on the large black dial are mesmerizing. The crystal is also flat so the watch really does wear thinner then you would expect.

At its price, it’s a great value PAM. If you are buying one used, you really won’t take a hit on it if you decide to later resell. If you can buy a P series with original vintage cracked strap, that is the best OEM combo.

I have been off and on the Panerai game for a lot of years. The brand and the marketing is horrible to me but I do like the watches and all the fake history, but so what. I just got back into the game with the 1389 and while it is 47 mm it is titanium and a pleasure to wear.

I have the PAM 514. It is a large watch but it lays flat due to the manual wind. I've found the P3000 movement keeps great time. The 514 is a great all around Radiomir 1940 model. You will however notice a significant size increase from the 42mm 512. Mine came on a brown leather crocodile strap (older models came on a black distressed calf strap). The croc gives the piece a more formal look despite its size. I actually wear mine mostly with suits since I have a 372 that I wear with more casual attire. They are selling really cheap right now on the secondary market and worth picking up if you can get one in the 4-5k range. There is faux lume on the model so it tends to look better with earth tones and browns.

My 514 arrived this morning! It’s a great looking watch and it is pretty BIG. I’ll post some picks later today. I appreciate all of your input!

I wear 47mm as my daily - 368 to work, 389 evenings and weekends. Used to also wear 932 and 687 but these are up for sale at the moment.

The 389 sometimes get worn to work, and isn't too big.

Look forward to your pics. Congrats.
