Trade GMT for Sub?
Would you trade your GMT Master II 116710 with a full kit, for a ceramic sub with full kit?
I really like my GMT and I've had it for a few months... But the brushed bracelet, and adjustable clasp on the Sub are really calling to me. |

The pluses and minuses on these watches make it a draw for me. I think they are both exceptional. For me, no collection would be complete without both of them.

that's totally a personal choice. I think you need both. If it were one for me it would have to be the Sub, I dive, I use the timing bezel ALL the time, way more than the GMT function. Just suites me most of the time. Good luck!

To me the current Submariner and Date in all SS forms is about perfect. Brushed and Glidelock, along with easier winding and setting vs GMT make it a winner. But make sure to go with the one you like most and think fits best long-term and you will be happy.

no extra money involved? then it's whatever you prefer between the PCL's, WR, GMT, etc.

I wouldn't, but I like the GMT complication better. You can have the PCLs brushed out if the PCLs are bugging you. Many have (lots of threads in this). I did myself, but decided I liked the PCLs more so had them polished back. I have a TT sub with the glidelock, and personally, the easy link of the GMT is just as useful. So for all of these reasons, keep the GMT, unless you are bored with it.

I’d hold off on a trade. Both are great pieces. You just have buyers remorse and the high is gone. The GMT II is a keeper. That is why so many watch enthusiasts have collections. My bet is that if you sell the GMT and buy the Sub you will feel the same in 6 months. My suggestion is take the money you would lose on a trade in and buy a used TT DJ. Then you would appreciate the GMT and have a dress watch. Cheers

Tough choice. Why is the Sub calling your name? Just cause of the BCLs and the Glidelock?
How active are you/how do you treat your watches? Do scratches bother you? Ask yourself if the Sub would better suit your lifestyle. I was between both and ended up choosing the Sub. Don't regret it one bit.

Sure why not, the reasons you give are valid for making a change. If you regret the decision there are still lots of 116710s out there so you can always go back.

Submariner or Submariner Date?
How old is it? Is the GMT all black or the Batman? |

Yes I would, IMO the sub looks better on wrist than the all black 116710

For 'one watch' I prefer (and bought) the Sub over the GMT. But that's a pure matter of taste because the GMT is a great watch.
Why the Sub? 1. I preferred the black bezel; find it more versatile. 2. I wanted no-date for a daily wear as I like the symmetry of the dial. 3. I do not like the green GMT hand on the black GMT. 4. I love Glidelock. Cannot say enough about this bracelet. But the GMT is a great watch. If they made the Pepsi in SS with Glidelock, I'd get one for sure. |

I have a ceramic sub date and the blnr and just picked up the all black ceramic gmt and I like the gmts a lot more. They are more comfortable and just look amazing!

Black GMT for a black sub? Do you prefer the iconic sub look or the GMT function? I could see the desire for that trade.

If they both have black bezels, I’d take the sub over the gmt.

Also, brush the PCLs on the GMT, if you like brushed better. I would def do that if I owned a GMT. |

I personally prefer the GMT--enough water resistance for 99% of people and situations, but with a super useful complication. That said, I think a sub holds its value a bit better so if it's an even trade you're probably doing well value-wise.

A GMT LN, yes. If I wanted the Sub badly.
I'd do the trade without reservation for an SD40 though.

I wouldn't do it, but that's just me. My personal preference is to the GMT over the sub.
If the clasp/brushed bracelet is your largest concern, you can always buy that separately and put it on! |

Now if it were a BLNR for a SUB LV that would be a tough trade to ponder IMO.

Don't do it right now - the LN and BLNR GMT appear to be getting withdrawn (they've disappeared from all AD websites - though they haven't yet been removed from Rolex's own website). If being discontinued then your GMT will soon be worth more!
