Advice on 1st AP
The more I have been following this site the more I have been admiring the Royal Oak. Problem is trying one on locally is an issue as i don't believe there are any local stores near me. Also AP's site seems to be not working lately so while I assume NY has a store not sure if there is one in Boston. I wouldn't buy one without it. Need to put in on to fell if it is comfortable. I'm not even sure where prices start. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Just in NY from what I can see - check out their website has all the information on pricing etc. Take a trip down to NYC when things settle down - call or email first to make an appointment. I'm sure they can accommodate a request to try a like model on - getting that model may be a different question

Are there any particular models I should be looking at? Just want a pretty basic clean looking model.

The pretty basic, clean models are the 15500 and 15450, depending on your wrist size and preferences. The 15500 is larger, and also more sporty. Or the 15202, which is a grail piece and not easy to acquire. Or, if you’re looking for even more sporty, you could consider the RO Diver. But really, you need to start with browsing the website. I’ve not had any issues with it. Try a different browser? |

Finally able to logon on my phone. Wont work with IE or chrome. Weird. Looks like the 15500 is what I would want to try on. Are these attainable? Do they have inventory or are you put on a waitlist? If so how long are the waitlists?

Othewise, recommend NYC boutique generally. Wait times all over the place from Blue being pretty hard, silver/gray next hardest/ black easiest. Last time I was there in NYC, they had a marketing piece in gray to try on to get a feel for size. But of course, plenty in diamond district to try for size to your hearts contentment. |

Check some grey dealers in your area?
They may have a 15500 or 15400 (also 41mm) for you to try on. Be careful, I bought my first AP (15400blue) at the end of June and already got my second last week (Diver white w/blue)

Trying them on is the easy part finding an AD who will actually sell you one is nearly impossible without a previous relationship in place. Have you checked the grey market for the models you like yet ?

Is a 15500 a reasonable first watch to obtain from an AD? If not what can a first time buyer expect to be offered?

Definitely not you, it’s just the current state of play. In August, they told me they had less than 25 watches in the entire boutique for three weeks running to sell. This is for their flagship NA boutique, too! Combination of reduced supply still do to COVID and insane demand |

I would recommend taking the trip down to the NYC boutique. I was in the same position as you about a month ago and went to go try on the 15500, 15400, and 15300 at the Grey dealers. Then decided to stop in the AP boutique and got myself on the wait list. 3 weeks later...I got my 15500
