Since I was young I saw Guys with the "President" and I always wanted one, 18k YG 18238 with Diamond Dial. Finally I bought it as my first Rolex and I could not be happier. Now I just want more Rolex watches.

My first "oooohhhh" moment with rolex was the Magnum PI GMT Master he wore. That sparked the sickness, but it wasn't until college when the Sub caught my eye and that was my very first one to purchase.

The Submariner Date. As seen in plenty of National Geographic magazine ads when I was much younger.

Which rolex sparked your passion for the brand?

Submariner date, which I eventually bought for myself.

Please share the model that caught your eye, which prompted you to own a rolex.

I think it’s the DJ, fluted bezel, blue face the one that my memory relates to Rolex.

My dad worked hard as a waiter his entire life and was able to raise 5 kids on a minimum wage salary. To this day, I still don't know how he did it. Of course it was a simpler time back then, we owned what we needed and nothing more. He wore a replica 34mm Oyster Perpetual Precision which I kept after he passed away in 2014. As a teenager I knew it was fake but I never asked him cause I didn't want him to feel bad. In fact, he used to tell me to focus on my education and one day I might be able to buy a Rolex for myself. He taught me a lot. Thank you, Dad.

My mother, who is a huge jewelry nut, bought me a fake Daytona as a gag about 20 years ago. I’ve wanted a real one ever since. At the time, it was aspirational. 20 years later, I still haven’t pulled the trigger, but I may soon...

This is a great question - I would have to say it would be the 16710 Pepsi - just iconic status. I have had quite a few but in the end I think I preferred the modern references so sold it each time.

For me all started when I saw a DJ36 with fluted bezel and oyster bracelet! Very elegant watch which on a later stage became my first Rolex

The Explorer!

I never really liked Rolex: I didn't like the date "water drop", and found the bracelets old-fashioned (jubilee) or boring (oyster). Until one day I saw someone, in a magazine article, wearing a somewhat older Explorer (if I recall correctly inherited from his father), pointing out the timeless style and design of this watch. I started looking with different eyes and ended up agreeing.

My dad's 5513. I didn't know it was a Rolex when I first saw it as a kid. He still has it and I have my 114060.

For me it was the 16610LV. Their regular appearance in AD's windows always made me stop and look. I thought it was, and still is, a really handsome watch. When I finally got around to giving myself permission to buy one, I was disappointed with the feel and finish. When the Hulk first appeared I didn't like it much. Until I met one. It was everything the Kermit was not in terms of build quality and weight and the dial was special in a way that even the best pictures can't fully convey. So I bought a 42mm Polar!

For me it was the 116710BLNR. Remember seeing it when it was released at Baselworld and loved it!

I remember in the early 60's being in the jewelry department of Marshall Field's on State St. in Chicago while my mother was looking at something. I was fascinated by, and fell in love with, the black rotating bezel of a Rolex watch in the case. A few years later during my first job I fulfilled my wish and bought a 5513. I also remember seeing and liking a 1016 with the large 3, 6, 9 numbers at the Abercrombie & Fitch store down the street on Wabash. Back then A&F was the place to go if you were wealthy and were outfitting yourself for an African safari. My uncle was an avid hunter with many expensive shotguns.

This exact watch.

My father bought it a couple years before I was born, wore it my whole childhood and I was always fascinated by it. It started my whole love of watches.

I agree. When I first got my BLNR, I was a little disapointed, I still liked my SubC better. As time has gone by, I wear the BLNR almost daily.

I’d have to say the submariner; however, my first Rolex was an Air-King.
