I don't think you should have to wait that long. If anyone is looking for the smaller 37mm Rhodium I know an AD who has this piece in stock in the UK.

I like mine. It is one of the more expensive stainless (and platinum bezel) watches, has the rotating bezel, but not as big as the Maxicase models. You do not see as many as the Subs. I have two yellow gold Rolexes, but this gets the most wrist time.

This has left me looking at other watches from the brand and I noticed the yachmaster 40 was one that seemed to occasionally be available at retail but doesn’t get much love.

I started doing more research on it and even tried it on recently. Really like the watch and the way it feels but the bonus is that it isn’t a watch I have to play games to get.

Would love to hear from those with experience of this watch or in the know your thoughts? Is there a reason this isn’t so popular? Issues with platinum bezel?

Thanks
love mine, and got it around 2018 when i was more into TT and it was a bit easier/cheaper to get the hyped up models.
no regrets as i love it just as much today, and still don't care for the hyped up models

This thread has inspired me. I was close to pulling the trigger on a 37mm rhodium dial YM, but then started waffling between the 37 and 40 and started looking at the Hulk instead. Now that Hulk is gone, rethinking this. Now that the new Sub has the slimmer lugs, anyone have any thoughts on YM versus new new Sub? Seems they are a bit closer now in size and comfort.

To be honest, I'm considering a sub because it's the iconic Rolex, and seems like a "Rolex collection" isn't complete without one. Plus I currently have a DJ with a domed bezel and a GMT-II Coke with the aluminum bezel, I wanted to try owning a ceramic bezel. But the YM has such a unique bezel that I really like it. And it looks like a nice under-the-radar way of owning a PM watch (well, sort of PM -- Rolesium/platinum bezel at least) and at one point I was thinking of a Blusey TT Sub, but even TT seems too showey for my taste.

Hi Dan

If it is any help - even with the new slimmed lugs the Sub 41 case is still very different to the YM40 which is more curved and much more similar to the Daytona.

It is definitely worth holding out for the Rhodium YM40

That does help, Goose, thanks (and nice picture)! It looks exactly like my DJ case, in fact, which is good because I find the DJ incredibly comfortable. Is that the YM 40?

Glad it helped. Yes that's the YM40 126622. Wears much smaller than the current Sub (which feels more like a 42). The YM40 wears more like an older 5 digit Sub or the Black Bay 58 (but so much more comfortable)

I currently own the older generation 16622 but am waiting on a 126622 Rhodium to come in, so I'll add another vote in favor of the decision you've probably already made!

The YM is my favourite of the Rolex models...well...maybe a 1680 gold Sub - but then that's a very similar shape to my 116655.

I think it was the late 80's when Rolex returned to the square shaped Subs and then a couple of years later the YM appeared, which was basically a 1970's shaped Sub.

I don’t like wearing yellow/rose gold. But this would be one of my choices if I did. Stunning.

I had the YM 116622 pt dial for the past 5 1/2 years. It was my first Rolex. Very nicely executed case design, far more attractive than the Sub 11x to me in that respect. Now with the new Sub 12x and its redesigned lugs, the YM has lost a little bit of ground but is still a relevant alternative to the Sub for those who want something more refined and subtle.

It will still wear smaller and refined then the current 12X submariners.

It’s a phenomenal watch and better than a sub for 90% of people that buy submariner. The case is more comfortable and the bezel bi directional. What’s not to love. I imagine 5-10% are divers on TRF dive at the most. Who needs 300m water resistance at a desk?

Yacht Master is definitely one of my favourites. I am just hoping the Yacht Master wont get hyped like the other models in the near future so I can acquire the Rhodium.

I love the YM40. Rhodium or blue that is the question? They are both stunning.

I photographed and reviewed my friend's YM. Initially I thought it was just "blinged out Sub" but it was really impressive watch in the flesh.

Don't forget the old Rolesium version... it's pretty cool alternative.

REVIEW of YACHT-MASTER ROLESIUM

Pictures don't do the watch justice though. It's very nice piece. Cheers!

FWIW, part of a standard service is refinishing the bezel. Since it is Pt unlike the ceramic or aluminum inserts it can be re-sandblasted and made to look like new with little cost or work. I'd not let being a klutz get in the way of owning a great watch!!!
