I see nothing on the US Rolex site that has any mention of the crystals receiving ARC. I've seen images posted showing it on their site but I can't find it. Where are these images from?

All it says on the web site in our country is the following:

Two versions of the Submariner Date, one in Oystersteel and the other in 18 ct white gold, bring original colour combinations, with the dial and Cerachrom insert in different hues. The first watch blends a black dial with a green bezel, while the second proposes a black dial and a blue bezel. The anti-reflective coating applied to the back of the sapphire crystal on the new generation Submariner and Submariner Date ensures optimal legibility of the dial.

Debate over folks. The LEC images confirm it. The fact that it’s mentioned clear as day on their website should drive it home. Great subtle improvement to this generation. After seeing one in the flesh I will defo be picking one up around the end of the year. Just have to save the pennies first

Surely it depends on the type as I’m guessing all AR coatings are not created equal. My IWC has AR on top and bottom and it has the blue hue which I love against the silver dial. I would guess this application won’t have any hue though

Yes Brian I had to look to find it, but in the the Submariner TECHNICAL DETAILS no details listed about any A/R coating. So looks like forum is making a big deal over it, but not so Rolex in there technical detail Specifications.

I have the 124060 and have to confess I really don't know ...

What "tell" would show me that it has an AR coating?

The LEC will confirm it 100%. How can we keep speculating when it’s now a closed book?

Try a bright flashlight at different angles. Look closely at the lume plots. Do you see an echo of the hockey puck plot repeated over and over? On your non AR watches you should see what I'm talking about. Pics in bright sunlight do this on my black dial Rolex watches.

How does the LEC confirm AR under the dial?

Yes, Brian you should see the dotted oval inside of a dotted oval at the base of your LEC. That would indicate AR on bottom of crystal. If ever on the top too, Rolex puts a dotted horizontal line in the center of the same above. I think someone said Jocke went over as well, but the below we discussed similar on the Daytona a few months back and shows illustrations

Here are the copies of the lume plots caused by light making multiple transits between the underside of the crystal and the glossy dial.

Here's a sketch of the experiment. With your AR coating the intensity of the internal gray reflections should die off much more quickly as each successive reflection is only 0.25% vs my 4%.

That (1/16)^n factor will taper off quickly leaving you with a much cleaner dial view in bright light.

I'm not going to lie ... your explanation is way above my head, but the diagram spells it out pretty clearly

Also, if this is true, I can’t believe how much a 1mm (actually 0.5mm) increase was talked about and this is barely getting discussed. This is a pretty significant change in my opinion.
Only Sub and Sub Date 12x not the SD43, judging from Rolex'website.

I was comparing the SD4K crystal to the new Submariner in person. There is definitely less reflection with indoor lighting on the Submariner, less "white" glare on the crystal. The new Submariner is clearer, without a doubt.

I'll try to get some pics when I can.

Re: AR coating on the TOP of the crystal. Sapphire is basically scratch resistant. AR coating is not scratch resistant. So as has happened to me a couple of times, you may end up with a visible scratch on the top of your scratch resistant crystal.

I agree and don't mind on the underside at all. My 116020 has on its underside and I actually find my white dial Daytona has less glare than some of the dive watches I own. I like the move to add the AR to the underside of the Sub line

Agreed.
I have 2 watches with it on the underside and it's impossible to fault it's presence.
The benefits are crystal clear(no pun intended) in terms of legibility. It's a serious upgrade for Rolex which I hope will universally filter through to service crystals across the range of older references
