Rolex availability in Buenos Aires
Visited E.V.E , high end dealer including Rolex, at Puerto Madero.
Many SS are available OP and DJ 28, 36, 41 Airking Explorer II All new, prices are very close to US market however, you can't get local tax refund. This is the first time , post covid, when I see many watches for sale. Happy shopping! |

Perfecto, so the motochurros can rob you the moment you step out of Puerto Madero!

Is the crime that bad in BA? I thought it was very safe down there, was planning to visit later this year and bring a few watches.

People have been getting their phone snatched right out of their hands in places like San Telmo, Palermo, and even on the outskirts of Recoleta. Villa 31 crime spreading into the nicest parts of Bs As. Motochurros roll up on their bikes, take the phone or rob you, and drive off. I would not wear any watch to Buenos Aires (even cheaper pieces). Crime isn't bad as long as you don't make yourself a target such as walking while texting or wearing jewelry. Same goes for places like Mendoza.

Being from Buenos Aires I can say that it would be a stressful experience to buy a watch down there. Highly likely there are criminals scouting the place and tagging buyers. Especially considering the economic context right now.
If anything, bring a backpack and stay very low key, maybe ask to go to a back room. There is also the possibility that nothing will happen and it will be a fantastic experience. Situational and context awareness are key. PS I agree with Hawk above.

Unfortunately it seems to be the norm these days when visiting somewhere
I must say it’s a place we’ve always said we’d like to visit |

Too many causes … a lot of which we are sadly seeing in the US now. I’d rather not get into it. Milei is trying to turn it around but the economic reality is brutal.
Just be aware and avoid flash. Don’t make yourself a target. You should be ok. Avoid street cabs if you walk out of the store.

Very good selection. I would take Airking or Explorer II. Unfortunately nothing in my AD.

My wife’s family is from BA. I’ve spent a lot of time there and would not suggest brining a nice watch or jewelry. I bring a watch with me everywhere all the time and BA is the only place I won’t. My family worries about the attention as do I. Can list plenty of stories of robberies and violence for MUCH less. I remember contacting an AD in Buenos Aires in 2021 when they were impossible to get up here - had nice communications and was told I would be able to get something from them on my next trip down.
While the economic climate down there is sh*t There should be watches available. Due to a very weak peso though I’m sure people look for alternative assets that hold their value better than their currency, watches being a great option. Outside of bringing expensive jewelry and the worries that come with it Argentina is an incredible country with amazing people! You will undoubtedly have a great trip. Yes, I was offered to buy, I had a nice conversation w the SA first, then more offers came. It was sad that none of the available pieces were on my list.
DJ included the discontinued palm, navy, OP 28 were in Tiffany blue and pink which ,I think , hard to get. I asked to be on the waiting list, seems more probable than other places. I know sbout safety issue, but Puerto Madero area looked very luxurious. |

Honestly, it was my first visit to both BA and South America. The Rolex dealer is in the most luxurious area in town as expected. If I would purchase a Rolex there, I have to think how to get back to the hotel. No walking, no taxis, may be ask the dealer about the best way or just purchase before heading back. I think that previous comments from folks who know the city well were helpful.
