Good question and I do not know the answer. Some data points from the last week are RSC in Canada confirmed they would do it, RSC in the US confirmed they are currently still offering it, and someone in Europe just had it done. How long they will offer this service is anyones guess.

If I were you I would have trouble with this decision too.
But I think I would switch to the blue dial, I think it looks better and is something you don't see often.

Just ordered my blue dial. RSC will charge equivalent of usd400. Plus they keep the black dial.

Argued that since Im paying, i should get back old dial. But if swap free, they can keep.

RSC said pricing is already net of value of old dial.

Oh well. Am a sucker for blue dials. So pulled the trigger.

I suspect the majority of owners don’t even know they have the option to switch and won’t for that reason.

Exactly. 99% of Rolex owners are not on any forum and don't bother with keeping up with any of this info. I think the blue will absolutely be one of the rarest modern Rolex dial out there. We had 4 years of black dials being sold and I saw them in the cases at the majority of AD's I visited all over the US and in various cities around the world when I traveled. In the last 6 months, I have never seen a blue dial at an AD.Now granted I have only been to a few AD's but 2 of them were quite large and they hadn't received a blue dial wg. I'm guessing the numbers are in the mid to high hundreds.

Offered by Rolex Canada as a complimentary service, confirmed today.

They will not provide me with an updated warranty card, so i will always have a card that states the dial colour as black. I will receive documentation to state the change was completed.

Why? Many will keep the black dials and only the original blue dial pieces will have the corresponding serial numbers.
The blue dial was only made for 4-5 months, black dial a good 4 years.

That doesn't necessarily equate to four years' worth of sales volume. I would guess only a small percentage of black-dial owners will make the switch, for reasons others have stated. And who knows how long Rolex's offer will stand, if the blue dial is truly gone. If it's not gone, then this is a moot discussion anyway.

I love the old White Gold BLRO was a great watch but has been diminished due to the new introduction of the SS version.

I would try to get that blue dial as fast as i can if you have the white gold version.

No, not exactly. The black dial was produced and sold for 4 years. The blue dial, 5 months. Do the math. I have it on good authority that the demand for the blue dial was pretty much non existent since the release of the SS BLRO. I would be shocked if they release it with a new movement. Why bother with a 4 month run? The cases are the same, and they didn't have a stash of 3186 laying around they needed to use up, those can go in the BLNR.

I agree and who knows what will happen , it's Rolex and they steer the ship in mysterious ways I do think it would be a strange thing to do based on what we know but the world is full of strange things.

Interesting stats that the blue has a nice lead in the poll. I would have thought it would be black by a good margin.

Yeah...I wouldn't have predicted they'd release a new GMT in PM, TT and SS all at the same time. So the precedents are changing a bit. Still, we know the black-dial WG BLRO was a slow-mover. If sales of the blue dial were practically DOA in the wake of the SS Pepsi, it could be Rolex underestimated demand and pulled the plug; no fancy plan - just good, old-fashioned correction of an unforeseen turn of events.

As always, time will tell.

Yes that’s what has been reported. In Canada the RSC in Toronto told me no new card will be issued.

TBH, that is the main reason that will hold me back from making the switch.

Didn't you mention that Rolex Canada will issue you official paperwork indicating they did the switch? If so, you're covered there in terms of authenticity and it would actually be a neat thing to have in my humble opinion.

Yes they will issue paperwork but will not issue a new warranty card.

Hey guys, I decided to stick with the black. My main reason for bumping this post is the following.

I attended a Rolex Boutique grand opening tonight. The President of Rolex Canada was present. Him and I had a nice chat. He noticed my WG BLRO, and commented that is an extremely rare piece and I should feel pretty good about owning it. I asked him, is the blue dial WG BLRO discontinued? He said, "it cannot be ordered anymore. It's still on the website to assist in selling for any dealers that still hold inventory". So, I'll take that as confirmation it's discontinued.

LOL, i was quite surprised they disclosed that little nugget of info so figured may as well try for more. Asked, so what about a WG Coke Basel 2019? Did not get a yes or no lol.
